Re: RIP BA

Freedom of speech isn't a universal right you can exercise on privately owned mediums of discussion and as you guessed correctly, I don't live in the US -interestingly, the country I'm in has laws for slander - it's a criminal offense. Anyway, you are free to call in question this decision, but you ...

Do not drag unrelated people through the mud. Consider this my only warning.
Keep this on topic - 103 version ban and how it affects BA.

You can feel free to reject it. I haven't much else to add except I suggest you read a bit on the history of the botflag by searching forums a bit

Re: RIP BA

As I've answered in another place the S1944 nepotism idea is wrong and frankly a bit insulting. I recommend you exercise more reluctance before placing unfounded accusations.

I've never seen s44 mentioned in any story about botflags in the dev channels/subforums that I have access to.

Re: Dispensation for Spring 1944 to use Engine 103

Well I can tell you one thing, this rule wasn't put in place to benefit certain games and punish others. Not a big fan of the 8 player limit myself, but I think the idea is to use the botflag to differentiate between official and unofficial hosts. Official ones have to adhere to stricter rules, whic...

Re: RIP BA

Is there a version of BA + engine that works while maintaining old BA mechanics? What's the issue with PA or whatever? If there's a reasonable alternative for BA (and for other popular games as well) I support the forced min engine version. The old one is not supported anymore and might have securit...

Older versions can still be used if you limit rooms to 8 players

My street's power is being shut off for maintenance for about 9 hours on the Sunday, so I don't know whether I should participate.
Ultimately up to you how much you want to participate. No pressure.

Re: When can we talk about spring's loading problems (On Windows)?

Do you have problems with archives on SSDs?
I never have such long loading times even on fresh loads.. I think this is worth investigating

Re: LD44

I would like to use this opportunity to discuss two topics: 1. Start time 2. Game genre 1. So far we have started designing and working on LD games the moment they were announced, which often meant that people in certain timezones would effectively be excluded from participating in the design proces...

Re: Mars Total Warfare - Spring similarities

It seems to crash if I do /give all so I played around a bit and got a few units that didn't crash it. Here's how it looks with those units enabled (map is from my local disk): https://springrts.com/phpbb/download/file.php?id=10608 No problems with animations, they walk around fine. They even seem t...

Mars Total Warfare - Spring similarities

It has been brought to my attention that this game might be using the Spring engine. There are some graphical similarities, but I feel that it mostly comes from it using similar (and perhaps some of the same) assets that are found in other TA-like games. I've tried it a bit with wine, (there's a dem...

The results are out: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/43/to-the-last-drop Scores so far: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MpmjqvNIueoS9vo2ezTn8tSL92yPO-wQZR-gqq1vSdc/edit#gid=0 I thought we'd get in top 100 in at least one category, so I was surprised to see such low scores. I don't think ...

Re: Remove hang detection

Seems like your real issue is overriding engine default settings.
This is something you should look into, as you can't really expect default settings to fit your every need.

Re: Remove hang detection

How do they get 'stuck' in the HangTimeout loop? Is it happening too frequently and somehow causing spring not to load? I don't understand what you're saying exactly. The above pastebin is incomplete, it's hard to make any guesses from it (such as what their springsettings were). Generally it's usef...

Re: Remove hang detection

No, I want hang timeout to be on by default, anything that helps detect issues is good. That said, if you want, you can disable it completely, or simply disable it in specific blocks of code with the new clearwatchdog parameters. hangtimeout=-1 in springsettings, it will still trigger! This seems li...
