And why would engineers choose a new motor that excludes women (mac users) from driving?
because we like to build a new and better motor: women just don't have a key to start the new engine. :-P

still: IMHO there are no nice real world examples to explain the situation.

And why should be the engineers of the old motor be the ones to decide which new motor should drive your car?
our garage, our motor and our streets.

also this really goes off-topic. there are several hints about how to you could solve your issues / improve the situation.

Re: [misc] enforcment of spring >= 104.0 for autohosts with botflag

It's terrible. The situation has escalated so far that some guys have set up their own server resulting in a further fracturing of the community. I have few questions: Is the spring engine project separate from the official server? no Why is it necessary to limit games to 4v4? For instance we had s...

Re: [misc] spring >= 104.0

"again: this is mostly a non-commercial project. don't expect commercial like support." I am not asking you to fix ba or anything i just dont want the majority of players to be excluded. Im sorry that i thought that devs would actually care about the playerbase but it seems not. No players ---> No ...

Re: [misc] spring >= 104.0

Yes its "just" a game. But for the last years it was a shared "playground" of players and devs. With this decision you brought the majority of players to find a place to play their favorite game elsewhere. As long as we dont have a ba10.x Version the majority can live with and apple users are not e...

Re: [misc] spring >= 104.0

What a great idea to ban the most played mod 1. we are talking about a game 2. without the current engine beeing used, the whole spring project is dead which is more crucial 3. alternatives exist: fixed/updated games are available 4. + the reasons from https://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=38...

Re: someone willing to host an spads autohost for swiw?

Should I have a try under 104 or SWIW should be buried definitively ? :? :(
please give it a try!

the infrastructure still is working, so fixing requires only pull requests / commits to https://github.com/imperialwinter/swiw.sdd

Re: When can we talk about spring's loading problems (On Windows)?

Personally I don't have a problem here to solve, but I don't think automated local sdz creation per commit is viable; as a game dev you often want to experiment with several different settings/numbers/images/etc before you make a commit to your repo. Ofc one could still build local sdzs according t...

Re: [misc] spring >= 104.0

Hi In two days there is starting another round of the university AI course for 30-40 students which relies on lobbyserver accepting 103.0 as a hosting engine version. I spent last weeks and months by preparation of the course materials focusing on educational part. Once I noticed the enforcement an...

Which urls should we now use to get hold of the sdz built by rapid for major versions?

I don't see any (or even a blank list) on http://repos.springrts.com/ba/, all I get there is a link to the rapid wiki page
ideally none :-P

Re: Experimenting with refactoring repos.springrts.com

It would be nice if repository names didn't change around. improving / fixing these: each subdomain requires a new dns request + http connection to be made. this can be painfully slow. when all repos are at the same subdomain, only one request has to be made and this should be much faster + less er...
