Well, yes, because changing bulbs is on a different scale of work to fix.
Heck, you build the martin, I'll buy the bulbs for you. Any color you want.

Re: The balance formula thread
Inequality. That's a good word. Take chess - about as "sterile" a game as you can find. Never are both sides of the board equal. Even if positions are the same, tempo is not. Chess also demonstrates how any inequality has a relative value; doubled pawns can be a weakness or a strength - de...

Re: The balance formula thread
I imagine fighting games provide a dimension of nightmares we do not see in RTS games. "Situational" events are something it is very hard to qualitatively analyze - speed vs distance vs time vs counters vs reflection ... nanoseconds. Still, we have all those issues too and a few more in RT...

Re: P.U.R.E. RC4.2
Whoa. That got kinda technical and heated there. Look - Ivory has a point. Google asked a question. I am not real sure when or how this became a point fingers and talk load sort of conversation, but it doesn't do anyone any good. @Ivory - I agree that econ micro is tedious. Point taken. I have been ...

Another round of testing. Makes me want to drink. Glad I have beer.
Anyone feel inclined to torture test it, I'm game for a few hours.

Re: P.U.R.E. RC4.2
I'll give a shot at Ivory and Googles questions. One kinda hard thing to point at is the economic value of space; wind farms vs. fusion plants. Another is the economic value of time; micro to move to moho mines. Any resource model is two edged at the very least. Territory driven (metal spot or not) ...

Re: P.U.R.E. RC4.2
Shrug. I do not know if the raw size can be helped much. Inside spring that seems like an issue, but it the wider world of demos, it is kinda small. That said, I do agree that an auto-updater/less sync issues would help a lot. Outside if the above, If PURE was your mess, how would you go about the B...

Re: P.U.R.E. RC4.2
The heavy mech producing energy is wrong. Good eyes on that. Things like that are what we need to know. By the sound of things Argh and Eman think pure has reasonable balance and everyone else who's played it doesn't. I think we need some 1v1s so Argh can either see how we're doing it wrong or get s...

Re: "slippery slope"
When you talk about TA and end games, it is important to talk about which TA you refer too. Cavedog TA vs. mod community TA vs. the different Spring TA's are different animals. One of the interesting things about "modern" TA is that its balance is an evolved and interpreted thing. TA in so...

Re: "slippery slope"
In chess the phrase "playing for a mistake" is thrown around a fair bit. Once a material or positional advantage is established, unless the player with an advantage makes a gross error the outcome is consistent. Past a certain level of play, more often then not games of chess end with a fo...

Much glory to the no awp server.
Still, part of the fun was hunting down the awpers. You have to have someone to hate.

Re: "slippery slope"
An example unmentioned: Initial bases with defensive value (i.e. town centers in all the age games). This provides all players with limited zone control that is effective during early play. In practice; it prevents some fools mate/rush scenarios. Unlike the D-Gun, it will never serve as a means for ...
