Re: "So You Wanna Build A Rocket?"
Actually the speed of light limit kind of doesn't exist from the point of view of the traveller. Big or small spaceships seems like an open question to me, considering what balance of defense/offense is like. A small ship might be able to stand up to a large one if both can one-shot each other. Ther...

Re: Simple Real-Time lighting (example code)
I think ppl aren't that eager to jump in spend a few hours doing a ton of math/programming to "fix it" for something like: 'Breaking NEWS: Impressive cool lighting shader by Argh (fixd by xxx) .' So you might have to listen to these suggestions and do it yourself, but as long as it looks s...

I guess they count the start of the year, president assumes office the 20th january you know.
What I make out of it is pretty much a steady inevitable increase as the overall trend, nomatter what party.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. You're basing it off just recent reagan, clinton and bush, ignoring the rest of history and the full picture of who has pres/cong/sen. Re: Simple Real-Time lighting (example code)
Yes your code is really really far from perfect argh, so really sticks in the eyes of someone who would know how to do it right (but won't ever actually do it), but still it's put into practice in spring in an actual game which is where it's at, good job.

Re: US Financial Crisis SOLVED!
Money is like blood, it needs to flow. The government is like the heart, and the banks are like arteries, and industry maybe lungs/intestines/etc. The financial crisis is like a clog in the arteries, and you don't solve that by giving each cell (people) in the body a tiny bit of blood, you need to f...

Re: Simple Real-Time lighting shader
To light the ground it's obviously best to use the groundflash trick or similar... If you must have permament lights using the above method would be best to update it every x seconds yes... but for flashes you don't need to since their going to be quick (and static). Just take the shortcuts and don'...

Re: Simple Real-Time lighting shader
I always thought it would be a good idea to do lights only for special effects like explosions or weaponfireing, and limit it to 1-2 per unit and only within a short distance of the unit. So there would be many lights but only for short times effecting small parts of the entire scene. You could star...

Re: Starcraft 2 split into three games???
They probably do put some more time then that into the missions themselves, probably thoroughly quality testing them, coming up with ingame cutscenes, scripted events, the story itself etc, and all the cut scenes and metagame stuff. I'd bet there is a whole team working on them all day. I know AoE w...

Re: Random WIP
Yes, it's rendering on top of existing units so the idea is to just use an empty model and this will render instead. The animations are not synced yet since I couldn't find a simple blender tool to change the speed without doing a lot of stuff, although I think it's possible.

It's pretty rough actually and can be made way better. I got basic animations setup now, idle-attack-walk, heres a picture of the attack: http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s281/Zpock/hormatk.png Now I just need to set up so that each animation is played at the correct moment. I think I will use a C...

I want to be able to spawn whatever weapons wherever as well, it would be so useful in making customizable and other non-set-state units.
