Re: hosts lost their mappool

Tbh, Forb, you may be right in your blame of the available tools, but you can't be arguing that its "not your fault" that users cant figure our the tools you provided them with, or ignore their complaints because the tools you have given them are "not made by you". In the end it was your choice to c...

Re: [LAPTOP]Choice 15' fullHD linux gpu

Gigabypte p34g (14"). They have a 15" version as well. Comes with quad core i7 2.4-3.2 Ghz, up to 16GB of ram, has 1-2 MSATA SSD + 2.5" SATA HDD storage, full HD IPS screen. 14" model is really light as well, I tend to just lug it around in backpack all day without an issue. Screen quality is REALLY...

Re: Total War Rome 2

... "Lets release a shit buggy game at full price" "In hopes that people will buy it" "And other people will fix it for us for free" "And more people will buy it later" With all of the effort spent on fixing, why the heck not just make your own game with similar mechanics? P.S. This sort of logic i...

The coming of the complex games...

My take on the theory. Take a look at the beginning history of the gaming and software design. The primary audience were software engineers and their kids, much less so your average six pack Joe on the street. To those of you who began in this era as kids, I am sure you remember the gradual learning...

Re: FPS issues, stutter

I would say you have a gfx driver problem, your issue resembles the problem with "threaded optimizations" that existed in nvidia drivers. However, you should benchmark your system to verify that the GPU and CPU perform like they should. Old systems can overheat and become slow due to trapped dust, ...

Re: FPS issues, stutter

No, I do not have integrated gfx (fortunately). It is an old system, and I do not expect it to have brilliant fps, but what I experience now is clearly well below the expectation :)

Also I can see it use the gfx, as it changes to the higher frequencies when the game starts.

Re: Screamer and Mercury are still shit

That is damn to expensive. And even it is long range, for the cost of 3 of them you make a fusion and start to spam fighter. Well. One mercury easily shoots 1 fighter every 18,5 seconds, fighter which costs 11433 E under mm economy. That makes it drain 618 E per second from enemy under these condit...

Re: FPS issues, stutter

Makes some difference, but not much with full lua disabled. What I found so far, is that I get most stutter and lag after this : 1) Zoom at medium ranges (sort of between 30-70 zoom, where 0 is fully zoomed in, and 100 fully zoomed out) I instantly get microstutter and generally the game starts to s...

Re: Poll: Is a game with more units better?

The background behind this poll is that it was used as an argument against MT. http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=30162#p539858 maybe as note: more units doesn't mean better games, it just gets confusing. So naturally I want to know what the community thinks. Apologies for not reading ...

Re: Screamer and Mercury are still shit

Intended or not, it is one way I consider it would achieve a distinct purpose that is not replicated by other towers with just slightly different stat pool. And why not others? Well, multiple reasons, a good one of which would be that targeting electronics costs too :) (otherwise why have the radar ...

Any way to kill all lua entirely? And yes, it is BA... I already disabled some camera widgets which improved the performance, but not by much.

Re: Screamer and Mercury are still shit

I always wanted screamer/merc to be an anti-bomber tower, with the ability to "mark" targets and not shoot at one at the same time. I.e. 1) ignore fighters 2) each tower marks the target, no other tower would engage that target 3) fire. Still imperfect, but would definitely prove more useful to pick...

(springlobby) compiling on linux

Hi, trying to compile SL on ubuntu 10.04, config gives "MINIZIP" not found error, although I do have all zlibs installed. Any help? Is it possible to compile on 10.04 at all at the moment?

Thanks.

FPS issues, stutter

Hi guys, been a while since I have played spring and recently decided to reinstall it. A few issues that I cannot seem to resolve : 1) Cannot disable high-res clouds in spring settings (it turns on after spring lobby restart). 2) The main issue, the FPS seems to be drastically lower than when I used...

Re: Please add tapatalk support for this forum

Tbh, I would wholeheartedly vote against this (if there was an option) As I also can not stand commercial adverts on OSS websites which do not directly support the OSS project. If the app owners were to donate to spring, that would be understandable. Alternatively if someone implements a plugin to p...

Nuclear plants are actually one of the quietest (externally) power plants... Hydro/coal would be much louder. (but tbh, any powerplant is quiet if you dont stand next to the primary turbines)

Maybe because the actual spring community has ~25% linux users? (from what I recall SL statistics had it at)
