You'll need to look in the handlers tables (which iirc live inside the "real" WG - you don't want the wrapped stuff the handler exposes to non-handler widgets). The widget file is pcalled by the handler https://github.com/beyond-all-reason/Beyond-All-Reason/blob/master/luaui/barwidgets.lua...

No idea about the old keybinds approach (wouldn't be surprised if they were deprecated/dead) but from lua iirc there is CMD.GROUPCLEAR and CMD.GROUPADD

In theory, a mitigation layer could be created - in lua. Allowing old games to pretend they are running on a old version of spring. Uberserver is never going to allow two accounts to share the same email address. Bot accounts can be created on request by lobby mods, without need for an email address. The Chili wiki was written by me in 2015 & looks like very little was changed since, except for the section on skinning which was (according to the logs) added by Behe quite recently.

It matched gajops chili in 2015 - that's the most I know!
