Re: Geometry for sharp cliffs example
Really nice idea. I see a lot of possibilities to play with it. Is it possibly to apply it just for specific area or does it apply globally on the whole map? Also, how do you apply texture and what is the resolution? How customizable?

Re: The Website: jKs Site Changes
It's better!
I would get rid of gradient from newsitem class, it's not neccessary to have gradient in every content box while the site has so many frames already. Feels just heavy.

The progress and results of BAR looks very good (promising I would even say). Now I wonder, whats the ETA?

Heightmaps free to use
Hello! I was doing some cleaning of my old comuter hard disk and found some heightmaps that never got finished/released. If you want to use them, go ahead, no licenses, no restrictions... http://springrts.com/phpbb/download/file.php?mode=view&id=7345&sid=4386fee5ca8ad3b6e3aa450ff07910f9 http...

Re: Emain Macha Remake
I think the contrast here is just great. It's strong, but it fits for the style the map has, and for the style that BAR has -- a bit cartoonistic. My minus goes to the sand part, which looks odd to me now. I think that you dont need double dune texture there (prebaked sand dunes are enough), I would...

Re: Freakers vs. Nano Turrets: A Mathematical Approach
I skimmed your text, but didn't find anything about build time.
You miss one crucial point: You need to build freakers in a lab.
Depends of a game and a map, but when you need to build units fast as possible, it's clearly nanos you want to do.

Re: Comet Catcher Redux V2
The problem is that the flatlands look mute, while cliffsides glow. 2 ways to fix it: Tone down cliffsides and brighten up flatlands on specular map or brigthen up texturemap.
Looks great otherwise!

What does mapper benefit from this? Besides the difficult way of configuring metal spots with coordinates.

Once you realize how easy the whole map compile process is (texturemap + heightmap + featuremap + metalmap = map) you feel no need for any editors. You just need the MapConv.

I do it hardcore: -Photoshop -Texturemap -Select grass(flatland) area (color selection) -Refine selection edges -New layer -Select color channel -Fill layer -Run cloud render, play with different filters, do hand painting etc. to diffuse the filling (This method makes your different detailtextures t...
