Re: Favourite faction and factories, and why?

Thuds seem to be very effective anti-riot tank and a group will kill stray commanders surprisingly well. Also commanders that are behind troops. They really shoot surprisingly far if they have any elevation advantage, and since they shoot well over obstacles and almost always hit inside los, they a...

Re: IMPORTANT: development moves to git

Git is one strange choice of name imo. I know that in some parts of the US it has a negative meaning. Some kind of bad word. It's intentional. The joke is, Linus Torvalds is such an egoistical bastard that he names all his projects after himself. So, git... http://www.infoworld.com/article/05/04/ ....

The 64-bit spring version in ubuntu repos fails to run.

No error messages, just an unhelpful "Illegal instruction".

Unitsync also fails when trying to run springlobby.

What's going on, folks?

Re: Why P.U.R.E. will not be GPL or CC-PD. Very long.

I read US copyright laws, through the Berne and WIPO Treaties and the EU's equivalent of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, after our last license wars, and here were my final conclusions: A. US copyright laws apply, in your countries of residence, if you are violating a US copyright. I.E., it i...

Re: Looking for older version of Spring, circa 0.73

Don't upgrade to XP, upgrade to Linux. There are flavors that are less hardware-demanding than w98, and still have all the functionality of a modern desktop os.

As a bonus, it'll be free and legal.

Yes. i don't think the problem is the lobby. KAI 64-bit build just appears to be bugged somehow (like stuck in a loop and continuously allocating more memory.)

I'm a developer myself, so I'm looking at debugging this but so far I'm out of luck.

How do you debug the AIs in this project anyway?

How to get an AI working in x86_64 linux?

I installed spring and springlobby, xta and a few maps. Spring starts up fine when I put in just one player, but game ends instantly after the countdown. (obviously). When I started trying to get an AI working, things started to get hairy. AAI that came with the game complains lack of some files, an...
