Re: Engine fork and Ingame Community
raaar that is a nice approach in general, but we've reached the point where you would be saying "please join us" rather than "please stay". There is active engine development happening, more than in the last few years, but it isn't happening here. So abma would have to do more th...

Re: Engine fork and Ingame Community
Sprung covers the situation well.
If the wiki is meant to only list games that run on the official engine (106.0), then the page should be empty.

Re: engine settings profiles for graphics/performance
Here is my selection: https://github.com/ZeroK-RTS/Chobby/blob/master/LuaMenu/configs/gameConfig/zk/settingsMenu.lua Springsettings are in the tables called 'apply'. Sometimes a function is called to deal with an interaction between settings, but most of the time the settings are mapped pretty direc...

I just looks like toggling advmap/modelshading to me. Perhaps whoever took the screenshot turned off shading and enabled it with the update.

Re: LuaGadgets for discrete income economy ? (I think Gundam had?)
Yes, something like AllowCommand is part of it. I think Beherith is suggesting: Give units zero energy and metal cost. Subtract the unit cost on AllowCommand, if the resources exist, otherwise don't allow the command. Use Spring's nanoframe construction system. Give refunds if the unit is cancelled....

Re: Requiem on Spring Community (& -> Ideas for the future)
I wouldn't say it was conflict that directly killed the forum. Rather, the forum doesn't really seem to have a purpose anymore. Conflicts had a hand in bringing about this situation, but just resolving the conflicts won't reverse it. It's not even clear what the purpose of the forum would be. Develo...

Re: LuaGadgets for discrete income economy ? (I think Gundam had?)
This is pretty easy to do but involves a few steps and systems (command handling, resources, etc...). Most of the steps are pretty generic so exist in a few games already. I don't have time to lay out all the steps now though. A discussion seems easier. The most active place for stuff like this is p...

Re: Next engine features poll
1) Zero-K 2) Sensitive to the actual numbers. 2%? Probably. 10%? Probably not. I don't think it is purely a question of performance vs. users though, since I think we may be starting to see hardware that is too new to run openGL 3.x code as well as it could run more modern stuff. 3) I am not persona...

Re: Age of Mythology Engine
I'm looking for an engine close to that of Age of Mythology (pathfinding, god powers, random map scripts, multiplayer). Is there someone I can talk to from SpringRTS to see how much work it'd take to get the engine here close to that + pay for the dev work of doing so? Spring already has these thin...

Re: Spring- Among Us
I think I've heard of mafia RTS game modes, where people are doing something like playing a FFA and there is some sort of traitor system. For an RTS in Spring you would need to put the players on different allyTeams, have them be ceasefired, and make scouting expensive somehow. Then have the players...

Wet MouseDragScrollThreshold = 0 in springsettings to disable the MMB sticking the mouse to the centre of the screen.

You don't need to overlay multiple progress bars. The economy panel does that because it is displaying a configurable level on top of a storage indicator.

For comparison here is BA running on old engine with 7.5k units and 10k fighters patrolling with lua enabled and full backwards compatibility on an older machine. My rig is i7-4790k + GTX780. Ares your claims will be believable when you supply the game and engine version required to reproduce them,...

Re: Questions about game Development in Engine?
Spring is perfect for someone aspiring to make RTS games and for making a game like Supreme Commander Forge Alliance. The big advantage of Spring is that it solves the many technical challenges involved in making an RTS for you. There is no need to worry about multiplayer, pathfinding, replays, save...

Re: Autohosts operating non-downloadable engines
Around 130 maintenance engines from 104.0.1-236-g23c7945 to 104.0.1-1455-g39f8fbd are stored on the Zero-K server. I copy them across manually with a web UI for testing and applying to the server. I don't know where they are stored, but they could surely be retrieved if required.
