Re: The end of the maintenance branch
I may be wrong in my understanding, but how does this affect BA at all? If you folks are still running 103, how will ending the maintenance branch of 104 be a problem at all? You can keep running 103 (or 104 for that matter) til kingdom come.

Re: About New Computer
I have an asrock motherboard, but I think I'll be staying away from the brand in the future, It's not the most reliable thing in the world. IMO Gigabyte or Asus are better.

Re: Movie recommendation
Recently I watched "The Theory of Everything" and didn't really like it that much, it felt like half the movie is biographic butt kissing that would be more suitable postmortem, and the relationship angle glossed over a lot of things. "What We Do in the Shadows" was hilarious tho...

If you want, send Beherith a PM, he is tending to the remodel efforts, I am sure that if you make new models for BA kbots, he will take a look at including them in BAR

Re: ZK lobby server split is a disaster?
Eh, it makes sense from their POV, why should they stay with Spring community if they have built up a big enough playerbase and non-ZK Spring comminty has dwindled? I haven't been active for a while now, never got the ZK mechanic, but there is no point for ill feelings about them leaving, we cannot ...

Re: X-com: Enemy Within with Long War is crack itsself
The dlcs add a lot of one-off missions and quite a few new maps, too, so imo in that is much better. For instance, there are 3 urban UFO crash sites that are very nice. I'm not sure what the experience would be like for ppl with just EW, but prolly still good. The alien variation is imo better becau...

X-com: Enemy Within with Long War is crack itsself
So I got the whole xcom set with all the dlcs during the christmas sales (bless our lord gaben, slasher of the prices) and proceeded to install long war on it and suddenly it's a month later. It is gaming crack in it's purest form, so I guess this is in equal parts a warning and a spammy try this fu...

Re: Planetary Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
eh. I got the email too. Well I dunno, I guess this is a way of doing it too, as opposed to riding the DLC horse to death. Still feel like the game is weirdly unbalanced (cardboard units, turretspam, eco feels weightless (the adv e building builds in like no time so teching is not a big project) ) a...

Re: MetalSucker's lobby simplification thread
If you do need a lobby to build on, I would recommend this one as my favorite past lightweight lobby client . Hasnt been in development for a while, so I'm sure it would need some sprucing up, but it was simple and clean and got the job done when it was working. It reminded me of utorrent in the tor...

Re: MetalSucker's lobby simplification thread
The planetwars thing was awesome in concept and in the flesh as well, sadly for me the game (ZK) became increasingly incomprehensible with updates. I totally agree with the need for a simple matchmaking / lobby client, my game-using patterns have gotten to the point where I never click browse server...

Re: Forged Alliance Forever shut down!!?
This happened on a much smaller scale here when Tasclient autoupdated to springlobby because of butthurt. Thankfully that is one aspect of spring (lobby plurality), that has big plusses next to some minuses. I am unsure who has the off button for this forum, the lobby server and springfiles, but I h...

Re: Eternal Struggle 0.53
I remember, that my first unit with a 1024 tex made spring freeze (1-2sec) when it was spawned the first time. Not that unbearable but still not nice. We use a workaround for this: http://imolarpg.dyndns.org/trac/balatest/browser/branches/BAR/luarules/gadgets/gfx_arm_atlas_loader.lua, but that won'...

I don't really have a problem with self-promotion as long as it is something relevant and free.
Cheers and thanks for the links Eric, sound resources are very much needed in projects like the games for spring!
Are you also from Hungary by any chance?

Re: Geometry for sharp cliffs example
Since you have already thought to block any terrain deformation underneath the walls, you might also consider merging all segments into a single geometry blob with associated large draw radius (and rendering efficiency gains) to prevent LOD or culling from kicking in. The blocking of terrain deform...
