Have you tried fixing it with that fix rendering option in the settings panel? It should be near the bottom in advanced mode, on the first page. Just an idea...

I've had the slow down problem too. I recently got the SetAffinity program, so that it auto sets 1 core instead of 2 to Spring. I get a weird, randomly fluctuating distortion on the water when I have dynamic water enabled.
