Re: What to look for in a monitor?

If you care about image quality, get an IPS panel. Viewsonic recently brought out a IPS screen set a price point that is within the range of some of more expensive TN panels (http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/monito ... b-review/1)

Re: Playing Games Late

I do it a fair bit. E.g. I started playing through hl2 a week ago, finished today. Fantastic game. After Ep1 and 2, I'll probably move on to Oblivion and Fallout 3 :D

Re: Bicycles

F* nice What kind of pedals will you use ? I didn't try automatic yet. Shimano R086 Shoes, Shimano R540 Pedals. They were on special as a package for $219 AU :) As for suspension, only very experienced and demanding riders need it. The extra weight it most cases (especially in commuter hybrids) is ...

I'm currently in the process of buying a Scott Speedster S30: http://www.westbrookcycles.co.uk/bikes-5/road-bikes-18/scott-speedster-triple-road-bike-29937-6407_zoom.jpg It was reduced from $1600 to $1000 :) It will be my first road bike, upgrading from a crappy hybrid. Can't wait to bring it hope w...

Re: Song that defines a genre.

Shoegaze/Postrock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKyrULAfvq8 Imo genrefication inherently diminishes art, cool music links are always good tho :) Thanks for the link, I'm into almost anything with a guitar (from acoustic to death metal) , and I had never listened to much post-rock, and now I have ...

Re: Some finnish music - Amorphis

Thanks for mentioning this band, I think I quite like them :) I would just like to stick up for American Metal.. I admit some bands are really quite bad, untalented and uninspired. But some are actually quite good. Between the Buried and Me : (Long song, very awesome though) Swim to the Moon - The G...

Re: happy valentines day!

I've always loved xkcd's Valentines from last year: (Right click and view image for larger) http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/sierpinski_valentine.png So this year I tried to replicate it. About 2 hours work. No tracing of the original was done, but the type was done in PS and warped a bit, because my own...

Re: Song Lines That Caught Your Attention

Pretty sad backstory to this song (and album). Lead singer's mum (who was a devout catholic) was in a coma for 27 years (about 10,000 days) then died. 10,000 Days Pt II - Tool Listen to the tales and romanticize, How we'd follow the path of the hero. Re: Call of Duty 6

It looks really good, especially the amount of weapons, and the spec op (co-op) mode. But the no dedi servers just pisses me off. But it will still sell a ludicrous amount of copies, and I'll probably still buy it, it just wont be as good as it could of been.

rattle: To use the included music app, and to use contacts, pictures and videos as intended, you need itunes. No way around it. Re: Where do you buy your games from?

I've bought 5 games on steam. Another 15 or so in store (when I didnt know about pirating or steam). The only game I have bough recently was Cod4, not because I pirate much, but because of school workload.

http://www.foobar2000.org/ Foobar :) If you have loads of music, its very nice. Its extremely quick, light on RAM and CPU usage, and is pretty much endlessly customisable with plugins and if you want you can code your own ui. Basic (built in ) UI: http://www.foobar2000.org/images/img/main-black.png ...

Re: What resolution do you play Spring at?

In fact it's almost impossible to find a 16:9 "computer monitor". I just bought one. Until recently I jumped between 1680 x 1050 full on my desktop and 1280 x 768 full on my laptop and 1024 x 600 full on my EEE. Now I run 1920 x 1080 full on my desktop. Caydr, down in Australia, the compl...

Re: I want to sing!

Can you play piano as well? Either way, this is a great song: Fred Jones - Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzvgVjRJ9IM Or pretty much anything by Ben Folds. It will stretch your range a bit too. Then a ballad by one of my favourite bands : Autumn - Haste the Day http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...
