Re: Mac Binary Release
Two pages back step 2 is what you need. Install instructions: 1) Get a binary install of spring, or compile it yourself 2) Get a copy of the base and put it in base. Should include: otacontent.sdz spring/bitmaps.sdz springcontent.sdz tacontent_v2.sdz tatextures_v062.sdz can be found at http://spring...

Re: sound loop
sdz files are in fact zip files. So rename it to .zip and unpack it. Then once you have replaced the sound compress it to a .zip. Then rename it to sdz.

Re: ARE YOU F*CKING KIDDING ME???
Sure the north pole could melt without changing the world sea level. However there is also the south pole which would change the world sea level as it primarily rests on land instead of on water.

Re: So you're looking for an MP3 player but don't want to be a t
What bitrate sounds good to you will depend on how well you hear, how easy to compress your music is, and what sound system you are playing it on. For example 128 can sound fine if it is coming off of my built in laptop speakers but I wouldn't think of playing it over the Meyers M'elody line array i...

Re: Long-term storage
The basic answer is redundancy, multiple locations (so natural disasters don't affect all you backups at once), multiple copies, multiple media types (so you don't end up with a bunch of data you can't read). There is no perfect answer but sending a hard drive and/or tape backup to a couple friends ...

Thanks
That fixed to build icons for me as well. Of course I might go back to windowed sometimes as I can't switch spaces (desktops) while playing fullscreen and it is nice to be able to get work done while spring runs in the background.

Note these are just guesses. The AI possibly is not handling the capture process well and is causing the crash. This might be taken care of in KAI 0.13 but I do not know. Also it appears you are running a lot of gadgets and widgets. Possibly try disabling most of them and see if the problem goes awa...

Re: Linux Distro Retardedness
The Mac operating systems and programs are for the most part designed such that any operation can be done using one mouse button through buttons or menu items. With windows operating systems there are many things that can only be done using the second mouse button and the contextual menus. So switch...

Re: 3D Displays
I have run a polarized 3d projection setup that was displaying 3d LIDAR maps for a dance piece. It was neat and looked good but had the problem of being alpha software in a theater show which meant that Murphy struck and was causing things to fail left and right. Of course some of that might have be...

The link to the latest file is giving me a network timeout message.
Also setting spring to always stay in one space allows one to switch spaces without it going nuts.

Re: Mac Binary Release
Just started a game while at work and therefore I am playing windowed instead of fullscreen and the build icons appear. So they are only missing for me with fullscreen. So something is done differently between windowed and fullscreen mode. If this helps any the graphics card is an ATI Radeon X1600. ...

Re: Single Player Game, How Do I Get A Mod So I Can Start?
You will need to download at least one mod and one map and probably an AI if you want the computer to do something other than stand there. All files can be found here: http://www.unknown-files.net/spring/home/ Once you have downloaded some mods and maps the .sdz or .sd7 files go in ~/.spring/mods ~/...

Re: Mac Binary Release
Using Spring-0.76b1+5286-nomaps with the mod UberHack, SpringVersion 1.3 and map Chess_b2.smf and startscript GlobalAI test (TestGlobalAI.dylib) I played a very quick game with no crash. I was using the LuaUI and the build icons were not appearing. Other than that everything seemed to work. Thanks C...

Re: Mac Binary Release
I managed to give your release a quick try on my Core2Duo MBP. I was able to start a game using Nanoblobs v.64 on the map Chess_b2. The game crashed when I brought a Knight close to the enemy commander's probable location but I did not save the crash report so I will try to duplicate this when I hav...

Re: Do you back-up your data?
Optical media while stable for a while, does have a lifespan. It just happens to be fairly long, on the order of several decades to a century. So if you are backing up to optical media I would suggest multiple backups and checking/reburning the backups every so often. Also although this might be che...

Re: Mac Binary Release
You have to download the SVN from here https://spring.clan-sy.com/svn/spring/trunk/ then patch it with the patch that Commander submitted. You also have to download and build all the dependencies for which you could use Commander's dependencies xCode project (note requires that you install the devel...

Yes that is yardmap, but I believe that is only for stationary buildings. I have a nasty suspicion that putting yardmap in a mobile unit will make it not move or worse. Of course I could be wrong about that.

Re: Mac Binary Release
Well I managed to compile the Dependencies on my MBP so at least that part is universal. I guess we will find out about the rest of spring at some point. Thanks for your work on this.
