Spring 2.5D game for Global Game Jam?
Hey guys, Almost a year after I released the Magnetonics( thread ) Spring game, the only guy, that I know, who made a video review of my game was interested in creating a simple RTS for the 2017 Global Game Jam (GGJ). Something in the vain of " Castle Blood Automatic " mod for Age of Empir...

Re: Magnetonics
I suggest putting it up on github for ease of access Very well, although I started unnecessarily copying too much of BA and Zero-K code... code that is actually in Spring by default. After I clean that up, I will put it on github. [edit] Commited to github: https://github.com/Pendrokar/Magnetonics ...

Re: Magnetonics
Sure. The competition was set up that any game was valid as long it hasn't been previously publicized anywhere. So there was a 20 day development period and a 7 day voting period. So anything goes. I actually wasn't planning on creating this rather a platformer hybrid of Worms-Liero-Soldat, but fear...

Magnetonics
Hey guys, The only real reason I am here is that I was a contender for a Latvian game development contest and I thought I'd make an RTS game based on an idea that I threw to someone in this community. Thought it be the fastest if I created it using the Spring Engine. So the idea is that units don't ...

Re: Chris Taylor may be developing Total Annihilation 2 -Pod
There is something he could make in a genre he hasn't touched, which is Real Time Tactics and an MMO. A planetary scale(almost to scale) MMORTT and partly MMORTS. The RTS part would be so slow that it could even be considered turn based. So there would be several computer controlled factions, which ...

Re: Planetary Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
To add a bit more... 90$ is a reasonable price to keep a low hardcore player count. This is same thing Prison Architect did, when charging 30$. But despite their efforts they still got 100k+ players...

Re: Planetory Annihilation (Incoming Moon Drops!)
How are those ideas from "Zero-K" if most of the widgets came before Zero-K and Complete Annihilation, and other features are built into Spring? The engine which is not mentioned by GoogleFrog almost as if Zero-K can run without it! :? Most Lua developers should have licensed their widgets...

Re: AI that uses video and audio input
Or an opensource AI that simply exposed a TCP connection to a remote AI that may or may not be closed source I see, so the License would have no right to go further than the source of connection. @PicassoCT Yes, I have never made an AI before and I doubt about trying it. Especially not on one that ...

AI that uses video and audio input
You know, you could avoid this by creating an AI that uses video and audio input. [edit] no use for output I had noted this in offtopic forum four years ago and never responded - http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=16087 Of course some had no idea why anyone would do that. Because of...

Re: Game Port to Spring Engine: How hard, how much?
I haven't developed anything on Spring since 2009, so my info might be out of date. Biggest problem I think might be windows. AFAIK Spring units can now have hit-spheres equal to their 3D models. But I don't think that units would try firing through a unit that has a hole(In this case, wall with win...

Re: My map ground is white..
I see how CommanderSpice gets it. Here is how I get it. If I don't alt-tab out of Spring at least once, then changing shadow configuration in game will cause all ground decals to become white with strange reflections like the current water setting. If I alt-tab after the bug occurs nothing changes a...

[00:07:19] <[ASA]CommanderSpice> they are all white with the new spring release
Has this been confirmed by Spring Devs? Since I also have the same issue.

You got me interested. Pros: Formations Uses a variety of units in battlegroups including radars and jammers Could quickly rebuild after having base decimated [edit] retreats with battlegroups Cons: Lacks scouting (oh it knows everything? Does it have a threat map then?) and raiding attempts A bit s...

Re: Video Request
I just looked at Sereiya's trailer of Spring again. Sure it ain't a Tech Demo, but she does show Lua widgets. Effects and compatibility with music is most impressive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mKhQD2SVqw&feature=related I'll send her a message whenever she is still interested in Sp...

Bah you're despicable. If this tech demo needs sounds also recorded I will gladly do it only after this feature is added - http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=14896
Although anyone will be able to do it if that feature is added.

Re: Video Request
Did you try using software like http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ to record soundcard output. That won't help since sounds will delay while recording. I suggested making a program that generates a file which inputs which sounds were played, at what time and with what volume in left and right channel...

Figure this, for the second commentated video I made of evo at 1080p, it was 15 minutes long, and the filesize was slightly over 1 gig. what did you use for capture? T guess something that compresses while recording? If its the build in capture of spring please tell used codec+settings. Were you ig...

Re: Metal Fatigue! Mod
Would be really cool if you were to restart the MF project. I won't. I'm not into RTS anymore. Someone else of course can take over it and do changes of what he sees fit! :regret: Not impossible to do but a lot of effort must be put into the customization system and the project itself. All I could ...
