Re: Spring RTS + RenPy (storytelling engine) = better singleplay
Haskell is used for many projects to implement high level game functionality in engines! We have an implementation built into the our projects, and it works really well! So Haskell is the new programming flavour of the month then? What does Haskell have that Lua doesn't have? Lua is already impleme...

Re: Name suggestions for the BA remake
Build Attack Reclaim gets my vote. It's a third way from the "serious or funny" ones proposed by SirArtturi earlier - simple and succinct.

Re: Name suggestions for the BA remake
How about just calling it BAR? As in, keep the title as an acronym and don't have an expansion for it. It still gives a hint to what its origins are, but clearly shows that it's a new game. Most people are going to call it "BAR" anyway, why bother complicating it?

Re: Help MK Buy a Laptop!
Thinkpad X220, hands down. It's got a much better warranty because it's a business-grade machine. The 1366x768 resolution isn't bad on a 12" screen, but on anything larger it becomes an issue.

Re: Laptop Recommendations
My MacBook is a 13", and it has a geforce 8400 inside, and it's more than capable of running spring, and it was bought in 2008, and it was the cheapest unibody model at the time, it's replacement has backlit keys etc The current 13" MacBook Pro has only integrated graphics. As for laptop ...

Re: Laptop Recommendations
For comp sci all you really want is a decent display and keyboard, so look at a business machine like a HP Elitebook or a Lenovo Thinkpad. You probably won't get much gaming out of those ones despite the recent advances that Intel has made with their integrated graphics, but they're built well and h...

Re: Anyone running Spring on laptop?
I've been running it quite nicely on my Asus N53SV - Core i7-2630QM + Nvidia GT540M at 1920x1080 res. Shadows are medium, AA is 2x and water is bump-mapped, everything else is high.

Re: Norway attack
This Washington Post Article is quite a good summary as well. Looks like the attack was distinctly political, not really religious in motivation anyway. More Timothy McVeigh than Al-Qaeda. This does not detract from the fact that it was a horrible event caused by an obviously disturbed, ideological...

Re: What Age Certification is Spring/Balanced Annihilation
Forb, how about you publicly release a 'LAN pack' for Evo that works internet-free with a couple of maps and TAAServer? It would certainly help spread the game, as not everyone is willing to have to install something like Desura* and make a separate internet download for the game every time. I would...

Re: What Age Certification is Spring/Balanced Annihilation
I would highly recommend Teeworlds - there's gore-free violence but it's insanely easy to pick up, quite scalable in terms of player numbers and should run on just about anything, especially school computers. EvoRTS and ZeroK would be good choices for RTS, although with ZeroK make sure that you sele...

Re: Legality
BA uses models, textures, sound effects and in some cases unit scripts from the original TA (and the expansion packs). It also has some third party models (some with OTA textures) that were added into Uberhack and Absolute Annihilation (when it was a TA mod). These bits of BA use the OTA IP, which i...

Re: Google+
I've got it now, and its interface is more cluttered than Diaspora's. The only reason that I can see Google+ beating Diaspora is the inevitable consequence of Google+ being a project pushed by a major corporation and Disapora being by nature a federation of open-source protocols and individual serve...
