Re: Determinism

Determinism is a larger subject than just FPU-issues. For BAR we're using SSE in preference to x87, which tends to have fewer configuration conflicts. The engine regularly checks that the hardware FPU settings are correct and will flag when they are not. We haven't seen any such warnings being raise...

Re: Notes about performance, 105.0 vs 106.0 vs bar105 engines

If you send me a copy of an infolog where all the threads were on one core, I'll take a look and see if there's anything obvious engine side.

Re: Notes about performance, 105.0 vs 106.0 vs bar105 engines

It's just a bit of fun. Relative figures are always nice to see. Who knows? It may show a regression, which would be good to know about.

It has been about year since you run the tests, raaar. I would be interested to see how your performance tests show how the engines are doing now.

Re: BAR's microsoft CLA and coil engine

I am not sure what exactly you mean by 'microsoft license'. If you provide a link to the license in question, then I may be able to clarify.

Re: BAR's microsoft CLA and coil engine

The forked engine uses the same licenses as Spring (GPL v2+), so, unless I've misunderstood something, I don't believe there are any implications on Spring there.

Re: Maybe another project?

From the licensing side, the engine code is GPLv2+. All Lua used with the engine is impacted by the copy-left nature of the GPL licenses and so also bound by the GPL, so you are certainly not stealing code - it is free and open sourced. Other projects' audio and art assets are another matter, but it...

Re: Getting started in game development

I'm surprised no one has replied yet. All these game devs on the forums and all that. If no one gets back to you, then maybe looking at other Spring projects may help. It certainly isn't the easiest engine to get started in.

Re: Anyone else noticed - rockets miss planes?

Just in case you missed it, this issue has been fixed in the BAR fork of the Spring Engine.
