Re: American elections

Also, only two candidates will ever have a hope in hell of even getting more than 1% of the vote, because the american populace has been socially engineered into believing that there can only be two possibilities. That's been proven to reliably happen when voting is done by plurality instead of run...

Re: Cloverfeild

It was at one point considered possible for global warming to cause a temperature drop in the northern hemisphere.

It is not still considered possible.

And the hurricanes over continents were laughably stupid.

Re: New Hampshire primary results.

A wholesome voting system relies on the fact that people vote with their personal interest, not some external force of social pressure. Social pressure encourages people to vote without any sense of responsibility, since it's worse to not vote than to vote without thinking. This is getting circular...

Re: New Hampshire primary results.

Ugg, read what I'm saying, you're worse than I am. "I shouldn't care about my vote because my vote doesn't count, and therefore, social pressures to vote aren't bad". You don't really understand a voting system at all, do you? I read what you were saying, and I understand a voting system....

Re: New Hampshire primary results.

An individual vote counts for just as much as every other vote. Yes it counts, if it doesn't count there is no reason to vote at all. Fundamentally the concept of "everyone being obligated to vote" is the most destructive thing you can do to a democratic sociaty. A particular vote only co...

Re: New Hampshire primary results.

In reality, an individual vote does not count. For democracy to work at all, there has to be a reason to vote, and since an individual vote does not matter, the reason has to be social pressure. Hence the I Voted stickers. I personally think that an instant run off system would be better than what w...

Re: New Hampshire primary results.

I think that Obama thought that he could ride through the primary just by being likable, but now he's going to have to take stands and unveil proposals instead of just supporting change in general Currently Obama has very wide support, so taking positions would inevitably alienate some people, but i...

In America, also, women are exempt from the draft. I'm fine with this, as there are a number of reasons, both physical, psychological, and practical, why it should be so. In general I have problems with "the draft" to begin with. IMO in a circumstance where drafting into military service ...

I just stumbled into this thread. stuff *lightbulb appears above my head* *paradigm shift* That is the most interesting thing I've ever read online. I saved it to a text file. I always thought of strategy as when people know the game and try to outguess each other R/P/S style, but it's more. A game ...

This is my 804th post.

It is... A momentous achievement. I'd like to thank my family, and the many public connections I've used to make this possible. Especially the one at my old school, and the one at my current school.

I look forward to posting more in the future, and going for 805.

Thank you.

What I dislike about Vista: It's slower and less compatible. 1st one is unavoidable, because of the added stuff, and the updates are fixing it. 2nd one will hopefully be slowly mitigated as new programs are made available for Vista. What I like about Vista: It has a better interface and much better ...

60ish during air combat test, 30ish fps during heavy battles on slow maps. I have shadows, reflective units, fairly high unit and terrain settings, 2x AA (it causes lines in the explosions, but still makes stuff look better) and 1440 x 900 resolution. It would be higher without Vista  But Vist...
