Re: New Game Development: Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds
@pyro - Gnomre and I are (were?) the lead developers for Imperial Winter. Suggest you get your hands dirty with Spring, give IW a go, try to play around on the back end and see how you go.

Re: New Game Development: Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds
I haven't really had the chance to look at it, so I don't really know what state it's in, and to be honest haven't really had a look at RTS's or gaming in general for a while so you may be right. But still, star wars is star wars, and free is free

Re: New Game Development: Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds
Hi all, While I'm not exactly opposed to continued development, this post rings familiar of about a million other posts sitting around on this forum, ie "hi, I'm new here, I want to make [x], I have no experience working with the spring engine but really love [x]. Can someone please do everythi...

Re: [Release] Imperial Winter - build 57
Ok, I'll see if I can dig up the old files. I've had a couple of harddrive meltdowns since then, but hopefully it's all somewhere. Mainly I only had latest model and texture files, I think Gnomre and the SVN had pretty much everything else. Don't forget to release that tattooine map also, ideally wi...

Re: [Release] Imperial Winter - build 57
Hey, Gnome sent me a message. I've got no real problem with this, good on you Flozi. I've always had a pang of guilt and regret that I never got this out. Have no problem making this an official release on website, etc etc. I'm happy to help out as I can, I think I have most of my files backed up so...

hey agorm, I just spotted this and was curious
Was the little building next to the big wind generator where you got the idea for the IW power generators?

Re: Imperial Winter - where things stand, and how you can help.
We were exploring a bunch of possibilities with barracks built AT and snipers for rebs etc. IIRC imp v imp was a lot of fun, had a lot to do with deployment of ewebs though. But certainly it was playable enough for a 'demo' release.
Hopefully TFC will be able to pull something together.

TFC, yeah that'd be great. If we can get a couple of test games to play through without too much trouble I'd definitely be interested.

Re: Imperial Winter - where things stand, and how you can help.
There's a large difference between discussing options of getting the game out to the public in a reasonable state, compared with flogging me as some sort of pariah. Once people have hopped off their various high horses, maybe we can discuss some ways for me to get the work out. And I certainly don't...

I wouldn't even consider doing that, I'm just not getting involved in the childishness that seems to have descended upon this thread. And not only from the frothing morons that lurk on these forums, but actually from some of the people I respect the most around here.

Re: Imperial Winter - where things stand, and how you can help.
There's a big difference between someone making a variant of IW when there's a perfectly good copy of IW available that everyone has, and someone cobbling together an ugly IW from the current almost-working SVN and releasing it. If I had a release out there I wouldn't be worried about it.

Re: Imperial Winter - where things stand, and how you can help.
I'd say we're a fair way from SWTA these days
Perhaps if we could move past the cynicism a bit and offer some suggestions as to how I could proceed whilst resolving the concerns I've outlined above things could move along a bit quicker

Re: Imperial Winter - where things stand, and how you can help.
They aren't over my head, I just don't really have the time to be learning how to fiddle with them. I guess given the likelihood that in the next few months I'm not going to have the time to pull out a release, perhaps some sort of unofficial SVN type release may be worthwhile, at the very least so ...

Re: Imperial Winter - where things stand, and how you can help.
Yer, 'cept I never did all that much of that even at the height of work
I was the artist and designer, so I did much of the art (along with lynx who did heaps) and then fiddled with text values - much of the lua and other important stuff that needs to be done is beyond me
