Re: where did all the pros go?

Protip: no game is perfect. The sort of thing I'm talking about is regret using the friendly fire mechanics to grief players on his team that he didn't like. I like the fact that FF exists, but considering that, at the time, my options were play with regret or don't play at all, I chose the latter. ...

Re: where did all the pros go?

Acidd_UK directed me at this thread, so I thought I'd mention why I stopped playing. I was able to work around the UI, it never got to the point (for me) that it was unplayable, although ATI's driver bugs didn't make things easy. For me, the problem was the community. Some of the things that I liked...

Protip: don't accuse everybody of being a cheater at a game you've only played once if you want to get a positive and helpful response.

Re: I Am Leaving CA

As if anybody will actually sue the Spring project. The file hosts you may have a point about, but all they'll need to do is delete otacontent and any copies of mods that bundle it, job done. If they actually do sue, they'll use past behaviour as evidence, in which case Spring is already tainted and...

Re: I Am Leaving CA

I find it interesting that a press release from 2007 is considered "recent". So, in the year and a half since that press release, what have Infogrames actually done with the TA IP to get people into yet another tizz?

Anyway, we now return you to your regular demonising of TA-based mods.

Re: limit player number to 8-10 per game.

Claiming that 8v8 does not reward skill is complete bollocks. The amount of times I've played a big game and seen just one person save the day for an entire team is rather large. If you lower the player cap, I will simply be even more disinclined to play with newbies/idiots on my team because they'l...

Re: limit player number to 8-10 per game.

Limit Spring to 2v2! Master and little bitch vs. Master and little bitch. Seriously, the best way to learn is to spec some fucking games and talk with the other specs to find out what's going on and why people are doing what they're doing. Therefore, everybody below star rank should be automatically...

Are you guys taking requests? I've got some replays of some epic games that could benefit from a neutral commentary.

Re: How do you think the spring project will look in 2012?

CA will have taken over, BA will be forgotten as a relic of the past and Gota will still be whining about mex overdrive and units being "too fast man, too fast!"

Re: Planetwars

This week, I've barely been able to have 1 non-planetwars game. Every single evening, when it's been up, the PlanetWars server has been full with another 15-20 or so specs. So many people have wanted to play that we've had stalemates because of teams being hideously imbalanced but nobody on the over...

Re: Planetwars

If CA is so flawed, perhaps you'd like to elabourate those flaws? So far you've said mex overdrive (which isn't a flaw) and units are too fast, leading to weird bugs in pathfinding, except that I've experienced no more pathfinding glitches with CA than I saw with BA.

Re: Planetwars

I feel that CA games involve the same amount of porcing as BA does (if not more) You're welcome to your opinion, as wrong as it is. because T1 defences are pretty good Nowhere near as good as BA defences. if you spam them and you can create your own terraform for extra porc (+level 1 shield domes a...

Re: Planetwars

But there is a major advantage to being on the losing side. Any battles on your home planets let you deploy buildings, for much more usefulness per build power than mobile units. There are just a couple bugs in it to get worked out; it should have been available before, and balance will change quit...

Re: Planetwars

Everyone in the game now gets roughly the same amount of free units, going up over time as the game progresses. And you don't have to play 12v4 , but you do get extra commanders to help when things are almost balanced, say, 4v5. Of course you don't have to play 12v4, but take last night. A wh...

Re: Planetwars

I'm really dubious about the concept of what is essentially grind. Your enemy starting with free T2 units can have a large impact on the game. There's also the serious flaw that one faction can literally zerg another out of the game. 12v4, anyone?

Re: Supreme commander 2

I predict that the commanders will gain unfeasibly large swords and be able to wield them as if they were ------- knives. When battle commenses, the commanders will perform attacks that look more like fireworks displays from Dubai than actual attacks. As the battle rages, a commander will use a grav...

Making Fusions as big as an XBox would also help discourage people from spamming them. Want to spam fusions? Well, you'd better make sure you own half the map ;)

Maybe, I'm thinking core T2 arty, 4 of them did a surprisingly good job at softening up a razorback in a game I played.
