Better NAT handling for Springlobby
Would it be possible to make it so that springlobby could automatically detect if the host is located inside the NAT that the client is in? I think some clever pinging combined with the host posting both the internal and external ip addresses could make it work. Then I could host games and have peop...

Re: SpringLobby
I posted this in the springlobby bug tracker also, but switching virtual desktops under ubuntu gutsy gibbon often (but not always) causes springlobby to crash. I'd say it happens somewhere around 20% of the time. This is a problem, because I like to keep my web browser and springlobby on different v...

Re: SpringLobby
Yeah, it turned out that I just needed to delete my .springlobby/springlobby.conf file Probably the update was expecting something different than the old version.

Re: SpringLobby
Not sure if this is a known issue or not. I have installed spring and spring-lobby from .deb packages onto my ubuntu gutsy installation. When I try to run springlobby from the menu it does not load. Moving to the command line, I see the following error: 06:20:22 PM: OnInit ( ) 06:20:22 PM: _LoadMapI...

Ahh. That is probably it. Perhaps the wiki should be updated to explain how to install it and where to get it from. I would be happy to do that, if someone would explain how to do it. I could get it off the original cd-rom, but I doubt that's an option available to most people. Perhaps it could be p...

actually, OTA WAS true 3d. It did not, however, support 3dcards, and did all of the rendering on the CPU, from a fixed angle. Which makes how well it ran even MORE impressive. There is a lot of room for optimization in spring. For example, the collision detection algorithm is horrible, near as I can...

Look. Stopping people from using advanced helper AIs of any sort is impossible. I will say that again. As this game because more and more popular, preventing people from using AIs to help them out will become more and more impossible. Anyone who is suggesting otherwise should go work for the RIAA or...

Why is porcing a bad thing to encourage? Some people think it is fun. If they think it is fun, good for them. Some people think (or used to, when it was a current game) Sim City is fun. Sim city is a single player RTS without any attacking or defense. So basically all you do is porc. And it can be f...
Also important is getting spring packaged with a working linux lobby for the top 3 distros (debian / ubuntu, redhat / fc, and suse). There are packages without the lobby, I think. Last, would be to get those packages included in the appropriate sections of whatever distro, so debian unstable, the la...

yeah, and if you have dual LCD monitors of different sizes, then you HAVE to play in windowed mode or else you get shitty fuzziness in one of them. Just get used to playing using the arrow keys to move around, and the minimap. Also, it is handy to know that holding down shift while using the arrow k...

Spring can support large maps relative to the unit size. However, everyone needs a relatively new computer to handle it. And since the game runs at the speed of the slowest player's computer, games tend to slow down on large maps a lot if the host isn't very careful about who they allow in their gam...

The newest dev version of unitylobby works, with the following restrictions: 1) you can not host. 2) you can not see start rectangles, even in the game. But you better click inside them anyway, or you will get sync errors. You better hope everyone else clicks inside them also, or you will get sync e...

I'd prefer not to sign up for a separate forum just for unitylobby. I'm helping his development by giving him bug reports. If he doesn't want them, I'm ok with that. But since he wants his own forum, I say the burden falls on him to check both (or he can let people post anonymously to the other foru...
