Well, essentially, the functionality of LUA already exists. With not too much effort and editor or translator/compiler could be made to translate a Starcraft style language into LUA ( or other complex language). It would be as simple as providing a basic framework class, then plug in events, listene...

LUA scripting?
So... I seem to remember in earlier versions of Spring there being a LUA option in the main gui. Alas, I cannot find this option in the current version. Is this intentional? Also, may have been mentioned before, but a command line argument for scripts would be nice. Could lead to use-map-settings al...

A feature placement system where you can import and place features on the fly surely wouldn't go amiss in this. Thanks for the suggestion, I have been thinking a little of this. Is there an easy way to convert the 3d format of a feature into a 2d representation? For now, you can use the Feature ima...

It's small enough for basic tasks and powerful enough for big ones. Agreed. But I don't know C++. Java requires way too much excess code (I have to instantiate an InputStreamReader object to read from the console? WTF?) If you include all the library code, yes, but I can actually spit out something...

Map Editor! Now that I've got you all excited...
http://fileuniverse.com/?p=showitem&ID=2726 If you have some time on your hands, see if this is in anyways helpful. I haven't really figured out if it can be used to make anything more complicated than simple maps, but you guys are creative. btw, be on the look out for some shady "Rejun&quo...

Hehe, again the JAVA, C++, VB argument surfaces, better not get involved. Addressing some of the questions in the thread: I aim for the editor to be realtime, however, when editing giant maps (32x32), it is pretty much impossible to do it without lag (15sec for some operations) without switching to ...

Map Editor: progress and some questions
Hello peoples of the well-respected TA Spring, this is my first post; hopefully I put it in the right thread. Anyways, I have been working on a map editor for Spring in JAVA, since it seemed easy enough. Here are some screenshots: http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/3943/screen010ry.th.jpg (requires ...
