Oculus Rift for Spring

I recently purchased a Rift dev kit, which will hopefully arrive by August. I'm hoping to basically reuse code from one of the open source projects to add distortion so we can at least make the Oculus Rift a display option for Spring. Head tracking may be beyond my abilities, and drivers / SDK aren'...

Re: Tapatalk

Why not use some sort of PHPBB mobile stylesheet? http://phpbb-mobile.com/ I don't know who's maintaining the forums these days but surely there's at least one good, easy to use plugin.

Re: Attack area visualization widget

Could you break it out into multiple threads? Seems like it should be able to be parallelized pretty easily since the results of each calculation don't depend on each other.

Re: Steam Greenlight

I'd hate to take the chance they have a URL blacklist or get the impression Spring based games are somehow less legit. That said,it needs to be cleaned up ASAP and if we can't get the guy who put it up there to fix it, we have to report it en mass and get it taken down. I'm sure it wasn't malicious ...

Re: Steam Greenlight

Does anyone know who put that up there? I don't want all of us to have to flag it and get noticed by Valve but if we can't find the guy and make him remove it in the next three or four hours I say go for it. Here's his friend's list http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197997687641/friends Does a...

Just $20 but I'm thinking of buying a bunch of keys to give away as Christmas presents or something.

I've apparently got a really serious Kickstarter habit since I think I've pledged probably $100 over the past five months of "cool projects".

Yeah, uh, it appears someone has jumped the gun and put us on Greenlight already. I was browsing through the listed items and nearly had a stroke.

Re: Spring is now in 3D

Also, the head tracking, being an input device, is probably best supported partially in the SDL. I'm sure you guys would much prefer just getting passed six degree of freedom coordinates of where the head is pointing by the SDL rather than build anything into Spring itself.

Re: Spring is now in 3D

The Rift uses relatively simple optics which means there's quite a bit of geometric distortion, chromatic aberration, and other things. These have to be "fixed" in software with fragment shaders. That's what the libraries would be for. The device itself is basically just a 1280x800 screen ...

Re: Spring is now in 3D

Rise from the grave! I was talking to the Oculus Rift guys at Quakecon today. I'm trying to convince them to release libraries under the GPL or BSD/ISC style license, as well as get them to write support upstream in SDL. I'd be willing to buy a pair of Rift goggles and ship them to anyone who is wil...

azure ramp ffas haha WHAT. i thought #lljk were the only guys who played that. because it's a terrible map. hated playing those Unfortunately, it was the only 5 way FFA map and I believe still is. It's just really buggy for air units and artillery. And metal fields instead of spots are really irrit...

Re: Nostalgia

The sheer amount that I released on a regular basis back then is O_o. I t was up to like 3 per week at one point. Course I had what I was doing down to a pretty hardcore science. It would be hard to pull off that sort of thing using ssmf. A lot more work goes into making a quality map nowadays (mai...

All the AA 2.11 units that are gone now. Some were goofy, some were awesome, all are missed. SMUG in general. I too am convinced that Isaac is on some kind of crazy bender in Canberra right now. We miss you man. I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch of other old clans too. I'm definitely missing Boirunner...

Re: Tabula cut on a CNC mill

And the truth of the matter is, There is one part that we CAN give you a part list on, (The electronics), because thats the only part that matters. Honestly, if I had to do it over again I'd just buy my controller rig from Bob Campbell of Campbell designs . It's really not worth it to hunt for part...

Re: Tabula cut on a CNC mill

I (and I assume KB) would be happy to mentor anyone else interested in building their own CNC rig. I think you can pull it off in the 4x4 or 4x8 size for between $1500-2000 depending on parts. So can we now finally say we're legit on Wikipedia because we now meet their minimum of two media sources f...

el_Matarife, I am fairly sure they were going for "Rosie The Riveter" with that cover. You know, showing her muscles and she's holding the "gun" of her trade. ... It was really cool thinking just how awesome we might be able to make a multi-tones map look. Yeah that makes sense....

Re: Tabula cut on a CNC mill

My copy of KB's article arrived Saturday. I think there's a single shot of Spring Map edit, but Spring and SpringMapEdit are both namechecked. An indepth copy of his instructions are available on http://wrdm.ag/moontable . I'd post scans but I'd really prefer Wired not sue me. If you're at a booksto...
