Re: orbital laser and other things

There are no shields. The counter to the orbital laser is to go out and fight so your opponent doesn't get the 120,000 metal needed to build it. Not sure about disabling commander ends, the explosion would normally kill your entire base anyway though so I'm not sure there would be much point continu...

Widget performance

I've noticed in the past that turning off XrayShader and TeamPlatter in late game gives me a decent performance boost, but I find the game quite difficult to play without at least TeamPlatter on. I'm using a Phenom II X3 720 and an ATi 4970, and I like to have AA and AF turned up to reasonable level...

Re: NOTA 1.61

I don't really like the sonar changes. Before subs on the edge of their range wouldn't be detected by destroyers. While destroyer sonar range was reduced at the same time, it's now longer than the sub torpedo range which makes it impossible for a sub to attack and survive unless you eliminate every ...

Re: Cannot Update Spring / Join Games

Funny how even threads asking for help devolve into the same arguments again. Do you have Spring installed to C:\Program Files (x86)\ ? If so, then check run as administrator under compatibility settings for spring.exe, archivemover.exe and springlobby.exe. A better way is just to install it to C:\G...

Re: CA Amphibs? What's going to happen with them?

They don't need a very big jump to cover most beaches. Half or even a third of the jump that the pyro has now would be enough to get hovers onto land on most maps without letting climb the steeper cliffs.

Voices I can do but I don't have a decent microphone. I can do some guitar work if you want a few riffs for the loading or something though.

Re: How do you use the Kodachi?

What if fire damage worked like stun damage, once a unit hits 100% fire damage it catches fire and burns for however many seconds? If it's linked to hp in the same way then it would make sense in that a unit with low remaining health that catches fire is likely to die but a full health unit doesn't ...

Re: Petition to revert mex cost to 50

In a normal CA game you get one shot at a flash rush and one shot at stumpy/janus. If you don't outright kill your opponent with one of those two you should still be at least far enough ahead that you can go T2 before he does and end it with your first T2 attack. If you make 2 attacks like that in ...

Re: Balanced Annihilation V6.6

Can someone explain wtf they mean by "burst dps"? There are diffferent flavours of DPS? huh? It's just a weighted measurement, because slow firing units are more and more effective the less time you have to shoot. The actual damage dealt in a given amount of time is not DPS*time because t...

Re: Balanced Annihilation V6.5

But your forgetting underwater labs.. No I'm not? The advantage of hovers is that you can use the exact same units you take control of the sea with to raid your opponent's land economy. Underwater labs give you subs and amphibious tanks, neither of which can fight hovers and neither of which can at...

Re: Balanced Annihilation V6.5

You are completely misreading the damage ouput stats. The Goliath cannon deals 900 damage but it only fires once every 3 seconds. The Warlord's plasma cannon deals 450 damage but fires every 0.5 seconds. The Warlord deals three times as much damage as the Goliath, and we haven't even counted the War...

Re: Eternal Struggle 0.5

hmm, strange. But on the other hand... i dont care. Never used it and i dont think its important. Well, it makes it awkward to install quickly after downloading it from springfiles or wherever, but also whatever the ArchiveMover doesn't like could be mishandled by Spring or TASClient further down t...

It shows up in the list now but the ArchiveMover doesn't like it, so something's still screwy.

Re: mp3>midi

In theory if it's not too complex you can use Fourier analysis to figure out which notes are being played. The more stuff you have going on the more difficult it's going to be and the exact timing of notes is quite difficult to determine. If you have a MIDI compatible keyboard to play it on there ar...

Re: Can we have some DirectX support?

It would probably cost you less to buy a new GeForce card for every Spring user with an ATi than it would to hire someone to write a DirectX renderer for Spring, and you're asking someone to do it for free. Well every feature requesting is mostly free (When accepted) and I am asking to have a littl...
