Well, it seems the hang occurs in a very C++ part of Spring.
If it had been during a Lua script, which are part of the mod/game (Kernel Panic) I could have helped, but this seem to be inside the internal of the engine (Spring), so let's hope a proper engine dev can notice it.

For now, the forum, either here or there.

Each time Spring is run, it creates a file called infolog.txt, that tells us what happened. Do you have an infolog.txt where it had the "Hang detection triggered" ? Maybe it could help us narrow done which loading phase took too long.

Kernel_Panic_4.8_Launcher_Windows.exe can't find spring.exe. It expects everything to be in the same folder. I don't handle installs where programs, setting and data are all separated. FYI. To make KP 4.8 work with Spring 104.0 (and nightly) on Fedora 31 I had to add "HangTimeout = -10" to springse...

Get them from : https://github.com/azaremoth/cursed/tree/master/sounds/music Or you can unzip the game archive ( cursed_1442.sdz or something like that) with unzip/winrar/7zip and extract the music from there. They are banning people with IP coming from countries the US government dislike.

Do we have to wait until the list broaden to encompass a country a Spring dev reside in?
(AFAIK most Spring dev are from outside the USA)

It makes me wonder if Spring uses flow field path finding at all by default or does it just use optimised versions of A* for each unit? Its optional, meaning its deactivated by default, but you can activate it in a spring games configuration. Technically, it's the opposite: ModRules configuration, ...

Save/Load is doable, has even been implemented a couple times. Including autosave. They're imperfect (no projectile, unit scripts reset, etc..) but still serviceable. Wouldn't work with replays though, since replays works with absolute exact state replication.
