Re: Problem when installing IO::Socket::SSL for SPADS

Another year, another "IO::Socket::SSL" Perl module error. At least in this latest Ubuntu version (24.04 LTS) the issue was easier to work out, that's what I did:

Code: Select all

sudo perl -MCPAN -e shell

--- will start perl

install CPAN
reload cpan

install Net::SSLeay
install IO::Socket::SSL

Re: Notepad++ Autocomplete XML

With IntelliJ's latest version, install the EmmyLua plugin, set language level to 5.1 and add mocaccino/SDK to 'Additional Sources Root':

Re: Engine fork and Ingame Community

From a not-so-finished games standpoint, which includes my own Total Atomic Power (formerly T.A. Prime) and Splinter Faction (from Scary Lepoo), it’s extremely clear that 1.06 should have never happened. Not enough game devs interested in building and sharing code for GL4 in 1.06 when it meant to br...

Re: Engine fork and Ingame Community

I believe renaming the BAR engine to anything without 105 will make it incompatible with the official server right? Ivand had to take some tries to make it compatible, per my request. Of course I can postpone updating the BAR engine for some time, until when I'm ready to add our own server, but it'd...

Re: Blender S3O Import/Export Plugins v0.7 - 2022

Blender S3O exporter updated to 0.7.1: it now automatically splits the mesh polygons across UV island edges. That is necessary to prevent UV corruption in the s3o, due to the shared UV-indexes system used by Blender. As usual please report any bugs you may find.

Re: Blender S3O Import/Export Plugins v0.7 - 2022

Using the view side-tab you can place it precisely or offset it by dragging, check the gif below: blender_sXBAuqGJzD.gif That's not as handy as using a move/rotate gizmo I know.. there's this thing: https://archive.blender.org/wiki/index.php/Extensions:2.6/Py/Scripts/3D_interaction/Enhanced_3D_Curso...

Re: Blender S3O Import/Export Plugins v0.7 - 2022

Same thing Scary Le Poo asked me :) It's very easy really, first select the polygon, edge or loop you want to place the pivot at (the selection center), click tab, type 'cursor to selected', move back to object mode, click tab, type 'origin to cursor'. Done. Or use shortcuts like I do, I've assigned...

Blender S3O Import/Export Plugins v0.7 - 2022

0.png The S3O Exporter (originally by @thesleepless) has been ported by yours truly to work on Blender 3.x. I've done a hell lot of fixes, added export options and also did a couple fixes to the S3O importer - more recently updated by SanguinarioJoe & Beherith. Tested on a number of (pretty com...

Re: Excellent player numbers, thank you to everyone who made this possible!

I would personally like to thank everyone, past and present engine developers, game developers, infrastructure developers, testers, players, and anyone who contributed since the inception of Spring, for making this possible. After a good weekend, we are hitting player numbers that we have not seen ...

Re: release a windows build for Spring develop engine

I also find it a reasonable request. I don't think it's reasonable to expect one of the BAR engine branch devs to build it though, especially since it wouldn't land on the official buildbot, which is what Ares want. Ares, what advantages do you think the develop engine would bring to the Spring game...

Problem when installing IO::Socket::SSL for SPADS

For example for Debian based distributions (Ubuntu...): apt-get install libio-socket-ssl-perl More generally, it is also possible to install this module without using the system package manager, by using the Perl "cpan" tool: cpan IO::Socket::SSL No idea why, but in Ubuntu (recently upgra...

Re: AAI under development again :)

Hi submarine, welcome back. I do remember AAI back from my early XTA games, great job back then and nice to have you back :) Make sure to check out TA Prime, it's actively developed and we get weekly play sessions. In spite of a bunch of new features (unit abilities, tech tree, etc) It doesn't drift...

Spring Map Editing tutorial video #2 - Beherith's World Machine Macros & Workflow

Hey guys, @Beherith was super kind to give us a detailed walkthrough of his amazing World Machine workflow and macros to generate maps for the SpringRTS engine. Presentation was clear and practical, he literally converted the full "Tropical-v2" map to the new texturing system, while explai...

Re: Comet Catcher Prime 0.9 released

Texture kudos have to go to IceXuick, he was the wizard behind that. Besides the new metal patch textures, I just did some extra cooking on top of it to make those details jump in your face a bit more. Yet I agree with what you said, overall normal strength might be a tad too extreme and "hide&...

Spring Map Editing tutorial video

Just a very casual session on editing a Spring map. Total quarantine style, daughter invades the video, some language switching (it's English 99% of the time, don't worry), etc. The goal was a simple 'edit an existing map' process, involving unzipping, decompiling an existing map, editing textures -...

1v1 Tourney Dates

As some people had trouble logging into our server and getting the game, we've decided to postpone our 1v1 TA Prime Tourney to the second week of February - also to allow for more practice time to the newcomers. You'll be able to sign up in the next week or so, meanwhile keep practicing! If you had ...
