Re: new linux install guide?
does anyone maintain and distribute a Spring static build ? http://springrts.com/wiki/Download Thanks... I was so fixated on the Debian-specific stuff that I had overlooked this utterly obvious resource... Next - the same for a lobby... I just searched again to avoid a second RTFM-worthy question. ...

Re: new linux install guide?
Before I thrust myself into this adventure to supply my Linux-loving friends with an immediately usable Spring+BA+maps+lobby tar.gz archive, does anyone maintain and distribute a Spring static build ? Would anyone be interested in such effort ?

Re: Feeling, question, answer ?
I don't know - but losing the unit-unit collision removes the damage penalty to groups of units that bunch up too tightly. Wouldn't that be missing ?Silentwings wrote:it might be better (and might help with the bugs) to just look at unit-ground collisions?

Re: Feeling, question, answer ?
Meaning playing boring style is the way to go to win, I used to like to experiment new things, but now fun and win goes in opposite direction. That makes the game looks like C&C red alert. Maybe you should play a few ffa to understand I never play FFA - chaos is not my cup of hydraulic fluid......

Re: Feeling, question, answer ?
paradoxically, the new pathing make units almost merge together which make most of your attack you do with a large number (either T1 or T2) far less effective because unit just stay close together and AoE effect are emphasized. Could 'swarm compacity' switch for units help ? - Compact : current def...

Re: Core Pyro DPS ?
Lioter, I can give you the script that generated those pages, it is ugly spaghetti python though. Since I'm quite interested in having up to date unit spec sheets, I might be a good candidate for taking a look at that code - though my primitive Bash and Perl scripting abilities, my non-existent Pyt...

Re: Core Pyro DPS ?
(Reading the lua unitdefs is better but even that won't give a complete picture because they are sometimes modified/replaced by other parts of lua. Iirc that's the reason why Trademark's system can't be updated easily to read current versions.) I was going to post a question about the scripts that ...

Core Pyro DPS ?
This spec sheet for the Core Pyro shows 12 Damage at 10.91 DPS. Compared to other units, it seems awfully low, especially for the price and even compared to my hazy memories of TA. Since the Core Pyro uses a flamethrower, I am guessing that this 10.91 DPS does not tell the whole story... Is there a...

Re: How to switch out of the game (and back) ?
You need to create a separate xserver for spring, then you can switch back and forth between your desktop and spring using CTRL+ALT+Fx. While I enjoy Spring, creating a new xorg instance just for it seems a bit too involved to me. In addition, I would love to end up with a configuration that I can ...

Re: new "Set Target" command in 7.76!
That would also allow the user to define a priority within the priority list: Riot fire 1st on pewee then ak, then flash, etc... Giving each type a target priority list would be useful - but where would edition happen ? In-game would break the game's flow entirely. So would players maintain a confi...

Re: diplomat and merl
I think they are good enough as they are. Units that are ugly tend to be less popular, and these units are quite dull looking. The explosions from their projectiles are not impressive either. They are simply underwhelming when compared to what you would expect from a real life missile truck.. I sec...

Re: How to switch out of the game (and back) ?
Almost there... I edited ~/.springrc but then found that the Alt-tab key combination is bound to a camera style switch. So I created a Hotkey Profile and changed //bind Any+tab toggleoverview into bind Ctrl+tab toggleoverview But Alt-tab is still captured by Spring. Did I forget something ?

Balanced Anhilation unit guide or raw data table ?
Before I installed Spring+BA, my previous experience was TA+CC... So of course the units feel weird - the right sort of weird since the direction taken is very similar to what we were dreaming of at the time, but disorientating nevertheless... So I need to immerse myself in units stats a little ! Al...

Now, I can't find springsettings.cfg in ~/.spring or anywhere else. Is it normal ? Should I create a new one with just that setting ?

Re: Debian+Spring 89+BA+ATI proprietary+Pulseaudio... Works
Why Debian for your only OS? I ask because, personally, I would pick Mint. I like the values of the Debian Project, I feel at home with the way the distribution works, I have never been disappointed with packaging quality or support and that is what most of my geek friend use. I have been using Deb...

I switched from the radeonhd driver to ATI proprietary because playing Day Of Defeat only worked with that one.abma wrote:fyi: spring 94.1 works with opensource ati drivers :) but i guess its hard to setup on debian, as it requires new versions of mesa / xorg / kernel.org.
