Re: So what's the current best way to get Kernel Panic?
Decided to take another crack at this, see if I can get it running in ZK Lobby. Good news is I don't see any errors. Bad news is it seems like ZKLobby fails to parse Kernel Panic's modoptions somehow - Springie garbles them when listing them out, and ZKLobby's modoptions GUI is blank. The net effect...

Re: So what's the current best way to get Kernel Panic?
Yeah, but SpringLobby complains about 95 and demands you update to 98, and does ZK support mainserver anymore? I haven't tried using ZKL to run non-ZK games anymore.

Re: So what's the current best way to get Kernel Panic?
Tried that. The installer comes with Spring 95 instead of 98, and the unzip method plays very badly on modern Windows with UAC. But then, SpringLobby itself has trouble with UAC - after an uninstall/reinstall I've found that SpringLobby can no longer update itself. I wanted to get some friends toget...

So what's the current best way to get Kernel Panic?
Is there an installer or should I download spring and join a Kernel Panic room or what?

Stockpile API?
I was looking around in the Wiki and couldn't find anything about it, so I thought I'd ask - is there any granularity of control in stockpile-based weapons? Any way to manipulate it from Lua, set a maximum stockpile, etc? I can't find anything. Is it just one of those abandoned blind-alleys that nob...

Re: Z remake in Spring RTS
Yes, you absolutely could implement Z in Spring. To be fair: making games in Spring is not easy - this isn't a GameMaker. It's got a lot of idiosyncracies and a bit of an odd toolchain in spots. But it works and it's sufficiently versatile for Z. The only traditional Z feature I can think of that wo...

Re: Non-DSD Host
Part of the problem is that many spring/*A maps make behavior non-obvious. I mean, there's all those questions when you start - what's the wind level? What units can navigate which paths? How much metal is in the individual metal patches? Are there any hidden speed boosts/nerfs in the typemap? Can m...

Re: Is there any Spring.GetVisibleUnits for radar dots?
I'm looking to get the coordinates and teamID of all known units on the screen, I don't require their UnitDefID.
And that's correct, GetVisibleUnits does not return anything for Radar Dots even if you elect to include Icons.

Is there any Spring.GetVisibleUnits for radar dots?
I'm working on a widget and I want to just access the units that are visible on-screen. spGetVisibleUnits doesn't seem to support radar dots... Is there any way to iterate across the known radar dots, particularly the ones on the screen? Or is access to radar-dots restricted to the UnitEnteredRadar ...

http://www.gog.com/game/wing_commander_armada?pp=f38cfe2e2facbcc742bad63f91ad55637300cb45 Hah! I had Wing Commander: Armada! It was... interesting. Obviously a bit inspired by Star Control 1. I could never figure out any coherent strategy in it, sadly. Battles usually broke down into jousting with ...

Re: Childhood Computer Games
@Jools Obviously your parents let you out of the paper-bag long enough to play some Cannon Fodder. I remember when I first got Descent. I was so giddy to play a Doom-like game in full 6DOF that I immediately phoned my brother at college to tell him about this awesome game. But anyhow, if we're going...

I hadn't been following this closely... goddamn it those models are so freaking adorable they're practically lickable.
Is there anything playable of this yet? Even just one lab? Like, an Arm hovers-only game or something? I'd love to take it for a spin.

Re: Remove FPS mode, open direct control interface to lua
Remember Argh's frustration at trying to get a unit to simply *follow a straight line* without movectrl? He wanted cars driving around in his little PURE cities but they'd always waggle because of the pathfinder's little idiosyncracies. The direct unit control provided by the FPS interface, if gadge...

Re: Want a game without exponential growth?
Also conflict terra. And Kernel Panic, sort of. Lots of SpringRTS games have linear or static growth. They just don't have *players*. In all RTS games (with resource gathering) you have the effect that you invest into eco and eventually you get more resources back then you invested. Then you again ...
