Do you still want to keep this project online?
Modelers don't seem to use it and instead keep doing it old way posting in random places/forums.

I wasnt too big on using svn to make it work, since tortoise for some reason doesnt work on my os. Imo http is better.

Benefit of svn is archiving - with svn you have all versions stored and nothing can ever be deleted. Its also easy for syncing whole folder - so if you have say folder with your models you can easilly commit it once upon a time and it will update all models.
What OS do you have? If tortoise does not work there are many other SVN clients.
There could be option to update model from web upload zip or something too. But thats more complicated i think.
