Cool, thanks for reply... RE: 9602, what is the mods internal name so i can rename an aai config to play aai bot in single player.... Nothing seems to work i've tried XTAPEV9602.cfg, XTAPEV9602ns.cfg but none seem to work and ai bot quits immediately at game start....

open up the mod with zip/7zip, and look at modinfo.lua

Just tested 082 rc and its no better, when starting any single player player with any AI bot thegame crashes, I tested XTA9602 and BA712 with AAI, E32, RAI, KAIK and they all crashed....

The Multithreaded exe is no better, crashes the same.....

I used spring dowloader to get the latest XTA and BA just to make sure I didn't have older versions....

Looks like i'm going back to the last version that ran properly..... (081.2.1)

Don't worry Hopefully I will have time to check this out and get it ready, I have beeen very busy with life as I am planning my escape from the parents house soon and being a productive... individual of society and becoming a statistic.

cool, The problem may be that some AI's need a modinfo.tdf file in the mod file itself and because this is no longer supported by Spring the new standard of modinfo.lua needs to be looked at....

Weird thing thought I reverted to 081.21 and now it crashes with XTA too..... I cannot even play a game now.... Even thought i uninstalled and reinstalled.....

Have you tried the old delete folder trick?

hehe :D
well said noruas!
maybe you get a chance to escape, by being a bugger. thats my long term plan.

for the rest:
for the RC, you need BA 7.13 beta2, otherwise you will get no commanders.
no AI relies on modinfo.tdf.
i had a lengthly game yesterday, with KAIK's and E323AI on BA 7.13 beta2, no crash. RAI also works, and even though i did not test AAI since about 2 weeks, there were no changes that could make it break since then (that is a 95% thing only, of course).

most important: it would be helpful if you provide useful info if it crashes, instead of only: "it crashed"

Thanks again,
Just played 2 awesome AI bot battles with RAI and then with KAIK using BA7.13beta2 running 0.82 - It worked great but I soon discovered that AAI crashes.

I'm trying to get AAI working again with BA713beta 2... and XTA9602 and I am investigating why, I think it may be the config files and AAI having trouble working out which config file to use. ( this has happened each time a new version of XTA mod has been released )

Is this based on the file name of the mod or the internal name of the mod in modinfo.lua ?????

which entry in modinfo.lua do I use as my filename for AAI config.

XTA.cfg ( the internal name listed in modinfo.lua )
XTAPEV9602ns.cfg ( filename of mod )

Any help appreciated.......

i just tested AAI, and if it does not find a config file, it does not crash the game (here at least). it gives out a message to the user, in-game (and therefore also in infolog.txt), that it failed loading the config file. and where to look at for more details.
in that file it specifies, it will tell you where it looked for the config file plus its name. it will list two names, and you should use the first, not the legacy one.

if you got AAI working, you may also try to get E323AI working with XTA, as it is currently the best AI around (at least in BA, and considering that it was initially targeted at XTA, it might be good there too).

Thanks, I managed to get a game to start with 0.82, AAI and XTA9602 but my start position was displayed and I had no commander. Same with BA713beta2 and AAI... I checked log files and renamed AAI and E32 configs accordingly but still no XTA with AI bots..

I will do more testing tomorrow in an attempt to sort the issue, Hopefully a new version of XTA is just around the corner....

Just played a great game with AAI and BA13beta2..

AAI config needs to be called

"Balanced_Annihilation_V7.13_beta2.cfg"

AAI played a good game too, defensive and offensive a few probing attacks until finally they nailed me with long range arty..... been a while since AI has beat me me too.... I was a little shocked....

Next i will work on E32 configs i figure its the same as AAI just with -categorization and -config etc....

"Balanced_Annihilation_V7.13_beta2-categorization.cfg"
"Balanced_Annihilation_V7.13_beta2-config.cfg"

I hope this helps someone else......

Just played a good game vs E32AI 3.21.1 & BA713beta2..

Please find attached configs for AAI 0.9 and E32AI 3.21.1. only for Spring 0.82rc...

Have fun playing Spring........

Both configs have been tested and they work, no errors reported in infolog or AI logs......
