ca is most definitely a tech demo. It has lots of fancy demonstrations of tech. if you dont think so your an idiot.

ca is a joke. i generally dont laugh at something unless its really hilarious, and whenever i play ca i srsly cannot stop laughing. the only time i wasnt laughing was when a roach got launched by newtons into my fusionspam, but when i started launching my own roaches i was laughing my ass off again too.

jokes are things that are funny, so therefore, ca is a joke.

If I understand you correctly, you may be exhibiting symptoms of terminal not-playing-enough-CA syndrome. Report to your nearest CA autohost for urgent treatment.

Respectable Gentleman, I play tonnes of ca.

A lot of silly arguments are being used to dump on CA:

1) Too many updates- Seriously? What's the problem with having a rapidly evolving concept? It's not as if you're being forced to update, and "relearning" every mod takes just a few minutes of playing. I personally LOVE seeing what's new with every update, and seeing how CA is slowly becoming IP free.

2) A tech demo- I guess if you don't like high-polygon models or extra effects because they slow down your system, then the mod is not for your computer. But if you're arguing that it's a tech demo because it's "not complete", specify what exactly CA is lacking then. Because so far from what I've seen, CA is among the most updated mods out there.

3) Few players- This is the only valid concern, but I think it's not so simple to put the blame for this solely on the mod itself. It's like blaming D&D for the relatively few people who play it, when in it could easily be a problem with its marketing. Most people tend to stick with what is popular in the first place without exploring any of the alternatives, and without promoting any alternatives, for reasons of either laziness or lack of time, etc. But it's those few customers and entrepreneurs who bother to try out what's new who make one product popular later on. CA is still a relatively new mod in comparison to BA, mind you. And the maintainers of CA have no business model whatsoever, so we can't expect them to launch an ad-campaign. The lesson here is, if you want more players then INVITE YOUR FRIENDS because as it stands there is no major incentive for anyone else to promote the mod, or any mod for that matter, for you. The mod is free for crying out loud.

4) CA Downloader doesn't work- In the beginning, I downloaded CA from its source and placed it into the mod folder of the Spring directory. Why most players now seem to rely on CA Downloader, when manually installing mods is simple, is beyond me. I don't believe for a second that CA Downloader is what's holding back CA when it could easily be installed without it.

CA being a joke and a techdemo is not other people taking a "dump on CA".

It is what i would call self-fecalation, or the dumping of the project upon itself.

It's still hard to believe this thread was started by a fan of CA.
Such a thread just screams for trolls and flames.
I doubt this contributes positively to the image of CA.

I started it because of trolls in other, non-CA-related threads *coughspringonfirecough* calling CA a lulzy techdemo and convincing newbies who look at these threads not to try CA.

Also, my logic is unassailable. d_b hasn't played enough CA.
