tbh you might all be making a bit of a big deal about the obscurity of saks' texture; maybe the other ships look a lot different?
either way it looks pretty cool to me; i DO like neddies additon of the waterline color... also con stripes couldn't hurt... but overall its a very sexy boat indeed and could ship as-is.
What do you like about the second one specifically? The more subdued eyes, the redder colour?
To be absolutely clear though: This is all Cremuss's work. Its not 'Saks texture'. I cant take credit for how good it looks, yet also the teamcolour placement and the general decisions regarding the large-scale detail is all Cremuss's. Even the eye stripes and con stripes are copied from a mr.d model with some edits. The texture contrast and such though is mine.
The differences between the conship and the frigate are mine too of course: The new shape, the placement of the con stripes, etc.
I upped the con striping almost immediately after posting this, because i saw too that it wasnt a large enough area to really show up at a distance. They are rather easy to tell apart at a distance, the yellow helping with this a lot (blurriness is jpg).
The teamcolour may not be so visible on the con though. May make that light bit at the front and the top of the tower into teamcolour to solve that if it proves a problem.
Changing the teamcolour is trivial with the sources (God, i wish i had sources for more models in CA!) and i like neddies teamcolour suggestion: Large areas of teamcolour are always my preference over lots of tiny dots and racing stripes. One problem with it is that it may not show the teamcolour very well when viewing the ship from directly overhead. Having the teamcolour on the deck means its visible for all angles.
Anyway, feel free to impliment the waterline-teamcolour on the new model i sent you Neddie, if you're still working on that. Different teamcolour patterns is a great way to differentiate units while keeping them using the same basic palette and art style. How is progress going there, BTW?
@Sak - hell yeah, it looks much more differentiatable that way. I'd add some teamcolour to the top of the conship's tower and to the base-support-platform-thing of the bow nanoturret, but otherwise it's nice - distinct from the other one, and definitly conshippy.
Need this texture done, Neddie promised to do it if i UVmapped it so i spent like 6 hours doing that. I am sure my work flow is terrible but cremuss's models are really hard to uvmap in wings, especially up to his standards, using so much mirroring and keeping everything flat and at right angles and such. I wonder if blender is easier (looking at his uvmaps id say so). It shouldnt be too hard since i gave Neddie the link to the source file for the AA ship (again, source files are brilliant!), but if not we'll have to see.
I can probably get a couple of ships out of every ship model, by cutting them up and fiddling with the texture in the above fashion. That should give the full ship complement out of crems 4 ships (These are the othertwo, FYI).
(There is no fucking way i am uvmapping that battleship D:).

I agree, these types of models are damn hard to uvmap
you can skip a lot of small details where infinite stretching doesn't matter or larger areas by projecting the faces from the sides, front or top (tools -> snap image)
