Are you working on some sort of hero mode? It reminds my of some pictures you once showed with little robots and this nice aura-like ground decal. Are the characters from some japanese manga series (as I have literally no insight into this genre at all)?

Not so much touhou just that the models looked like generic fantasy to me. I don't really get the touhou thing. As far as I am concerned they are just generic fantasy.
