What is true horror? True horror is the familar turned sour.
Its that something you always knew, taken and distorted. Make a room a little smaller, and it turns you mad.

Take a building, and make it grow a little and it freaks you slightly out.
But what if it never would stop growing. What if it turned into something that is only emulating to be your base building, something biologic doing mimikry, not even understanding what a building is, thinking that more of the same makes for a better disguise.

Development Update:

Sort of bugfix-phase atm. Lots of stuff that is work, as long as you dont make a wrong move. So its back to alpha again.

I need some advice. How to save a variable, so that it is stored after gameend? I know you can write to spring configuration somehow, but forgot the exact syntax..


Reasons is that i want to work around the faulty math.random in backgrounds lua.

There is widget:SetConfigData and GetConfigData.

Saving to spring config (as in springsettings.cfg) can be done too but imo is annoying for players...

How is math.random faulty?

Meth.Random always loads the same BackgroundPic.

Thus a workaround has to be found

So where does this strand me:

A fifth mini-mission is now part of the Game "Whack the freeman", where you are rewarded for Shooting at the MIT Phd who got the whole entangled affair going by beeing late.

I added some hacked holosymbols, made via Muzzleflash Emitsfx, to indicate Missionobjectives.

Units were added but are yet to be completed:
The journeys watchbird a unit whos sole existence is to scout your base.

And another Feature Creeper:
The Ecological Gadget, basically a statemachine to simulate animal life (completely neutral and gaia)

The Todo is long, and its mostly complexe stuff that piles up by now.

Idea that hit me, which unfortunately can not make it into JW as too fundamental design changes would be necessary. Still want to write about it:

Imagine a normal game playing towards the end, nukes hit- but instead of just massdamage, this is not the end, this is merely a diffrent beginning.

The world changes into nuclear winter, and a new breed of robots comes out, emp-resistant, cold resistant - they eat there predecessors and after a while the fighting resumes..

But another super-weapon is build, comets smash into the iced earth, turning it into a heated lava world, rendering the once dominant cold-war robots a dieing bread.

And so and so forth, icemeteors turn the lavaworld into plane dessert, terraforming turns the dessert into djungle, and the djungel finally back into the original world.

The cycle completes, but does never end.

The brilliant part is that instead of having hundreds of units at the same time, you have the same number of units in series. Fingercountable number of Unittypes per team - yes.. flat tech tree - yes.. huge number of diffrent units - yes?

Tac Weapons of Mass Destruction become a option for the loosing site, to gamble for tomorow

You can even try to gamble the system by keeping a old factory around, hoping to be ready to strike when everything goes full circle. Ideas? Comments? Overcomplicated? Yell it to me..

Betterizing random is tricky. I tried and failed in many says. I've noticed only the first random numbers are not random, so simply using:

			local _,_,_,_,_=math.random(),math.random(),math.random(),math.random(),math.random()
often works.


In another addon, I've setted to:

	-- Betterize Random
	for k=1,9+os.time()%96 do
		math.random()
	end
Be careful with os.time. It is the number of seconds since 1970, so it only changes every 20 seconds or so because of rounding errors. It also eat the entropy of small numbers.

Sometimes I also throw in the mouse pointer coordinate (which isn't random when mouse is out of window), or os.clock (which may not be random if your loading time is very constant or fast).

I try to avoid using math.randomseed, thus eliminating the risk of worsening the randomness.

Thanks Z, i m using OS.Time now.. its just for randomizing the background image, so its good enough for what i do.
