Seriously though, thats some kick ass texturing, where did you learn?

Really sets a high bar for the animators.

I self-taught myself back in 98, when I got my first PC. Since then, I've worked for a military simulator constructor, and several game development studios. The lastest game I worked on just came out for PC/PS2/XBOX called Stacked:With Daniel Negreanu. I built/textured all of the game's environments.

I've been doing 3D art for about 8 years now. My current job is non-art related though (I'm doing scripting). I felt like doing some art again, so since I was already addicted to Spring, why not work on it!? :)

What an utter waste of your talent.

That has to be one of the best texture jobs I've seen on a spring unit. I'd say "go ahead and quit your day job", but since game design is your day job, I think you're doing all right.

I think there are two reasons for the lack of good texturers here:

1. They haven't heard of us lot yet
2. They've all been forced into hiding to avoid being carted off in the night and put to work
3. There is no 3

Bingo.
I frequent a forum called Polycount, and there is already another "polycounter" here on the Spring forums. TASpring is growing in interest, so I'm sure more and more talented people will come over. There are quite a few polucounters who are interested in it already :)

Yes. I can't script or do anything game modding-realted though, but I have a lot of knowledge about WW2, and so I could help with that, if you wanted to.

Knowledge is one thing we have in abundance.

Still, all opinions are welcome. Pop into #aata on the tasclient or the TAU forum

I used to lurk around in polycount. Nice to see people with real skills in here. I'm was getting too used to most people around here going "WOW" over smoths medicore texturing skills. (No offense smoth but you need more training)

I always thought smoth's textures were pretty dang good. Not the best (not by a long shot) but pretty damn damn good. The textures on these units are pretty great though.

Good to hear someone take a stab at me without even offering constructive criticisms. Then again, that would take you not talking out of your ass.

Some day. but more importantly whatever happened to that original Star Wars Spring. Was it too buggy, poorly balenced, or just bad?

Slightly buggy which caused a major imbalance. It's still certainly playable :P

I suppose we better release that patch soon. Need to skin a few more units and do some balancing first...

It's a shame Spring doesn't really do the texture justice in-game.

Vassago's a tough act to follow, but here's my TIE Drone:
