Yes, I too felt that the moment someone suggested turning BAR into a backronym that the appropriate action would be to use a recursive acronym. Thanks for coming up with a good one, I was too lazy.KingRaptor wrote:BAR's Awesome Robots

Build, Attack, Reclaim
is kinda cool

Re: Name suggestions for the BA remake
i think the meaning of "reclaim" is not really clear unless you have played.
Re: Name suggestions for the BA remake
Doesn't really matter, even in the non-TA sense, reclaim still sounds RTSish:
Reclaim -> reconquer -> C&C -> It's a RTS!
Reclaim -> reconquer -> C&C -> It's a RTS!

Build Attack Reclaim is a horrible name for a game. It's not a 'name' it's a description.
Friend: So what is the name of that strategy game you're tellin me about?
Me: BAR. (ashamed) Build attack reclaim.
Friend: What?
Me: Yeah the people who named it had to pick BAR and then make up what it means.

Lool, i'm in total agree with you: names like "angry robots" sounds like a child game for crying kids (uhm.. to be honest probably would be perfect.. ).Floris wrote:Build Attack Reclaim is a horrible name for a game. It's not a 'name' it's a description.

But "BAR" is the worst name that i've heard, ever. "bar" means nothing for a RTS, and in my opinion we need a simple name that stays in mind of the people, nothing more. Better banal than absurd.
this is what i mean when i say ABSURD.Floris wrote:...Yeah the people who named it had to pick BAR and then make up what it means.

I thought adults were the biggest playerbase in Angry Birds? :)
Name really dont have to be too serious to convince.

Re: Name suggestions for the BA remake
What I think matters most is just the way it sounds when you first hear about it. No matter what name is chosen, people will get used to it eventually. The better the name, the less time it takes to get used to it.
It's got to be easy on the tongue, and easy on the ears. When I told some friends about Zero-K, at first they were like:
"What? Ze are ok?" ¬_¬
"No like the number 0, but spelt out. And K, not kay. And there's a dash in there."
"Why did they choose that name?"
"I dunno, something to do with science or something."
Need a name like StarCraft, Crysis, Farcry or something. Two syllable names tend to be winners.

Thats what I thought also. It's good but the reclaim is a bit obscure.knorke wrote:i think the meaning of "reclaim" is not really clear unless you have played.
Build, Attack, Ragequit
That's what it is...
Re: Name suggestions for the BA remake
i googled a generator (i know we all love procedural)
and i found this
http://videogamena.me/
and it gave me these
Tom Clancy's Walrus Extravaganza
Papal Ostrich Dungeon
Arcane Railroad Football
The Hunt For the Lawnmower Rebellion
Deep Space Midget Unleashed
none of them apply here, but hell, i would buy ANY of those games based on the names alone.
