Mobygames needs proof of being "finished"

Post by dimm »

"Please give us a link to a press article or other source stating the date of release. Thanks. (Don't accept unfinished games for the database.)"

I remember there being a statement of purpose that explained the indefinite beta.

unlike gundam, or evo or the cursed.. oops, there i was oiling the fire, when suddenly...

For real- is there any modproject ever, that was "finnished". I mean- Imperial Winter is finnished, alot of other dead projects- are finnished. But live and kicking projects, finnished? Are gamereleases by the industry ever finnished...

Holy shit did Ascaron ever release something not buggy when they were near broke again?

I have been installing mods for 2 days now into oblivion. The ONLY reason I would still fire the game up is because PLAYERS have maintained the game and continue to add content.

hmm i'm not sure if there's a miscommunication, but i can bet what they really meant is "released", i.e a game released to the public as a working game rather than an alpha/beta test

Thanks gajop.
The only time an OS game is ever finished is when people stop playing it.
Can anyone give me the link to the server stats or that explanation Cayder gave for the status of the game and intents and development cycle etc?

I sent this.
The item has been resubmitted to the approval queue with the following comments: http://zero-k.info/Forum?categoryID=13 http://www.indiedb.com/games/zero-k http://zero-k.info/Wiki/NewbieGuide Playable! Almost all open source and foreign MMOs operate on an infinite beta principle: the game is out playable and being played by hordes but the company calls it a beta for what ever reason. The policy in open source games is to call a game finished when there is no more interest in developing it. Alternatively say the first barely playable version is the finished product and everything after is patches. Real companies and mobygames(i bet) itself has included unplayable games that were later patched into something completely different..

The release date on IndieDB is off by 6 days. That is the moment when CA-PZK became Zero-K. That is our release date.

I'll correct the date on IndieDB.

The release date on the ModDB site was mostly accurate. Luckywaldo7 is a dev, he knows what he is talking about.
