New spring version, 0.73b1

Post by jcnossen »

Get it here:

Download the full installer (30 mb)
Or from the unknown-files mirror

Notice we dropped the 'TA', because we like to move away from TA copyrighted material. You still need to own TA for the listed downloads, but a completely free GPL version will be released later.

The list of changes is longer than ever before. You can see it here
A lot of them are mod related, so you will probably see a lot of new effects appearing in mods released for this version.

There is a seperate changelog for the changes made to the multiplayer lobby: lobby changelog

Code contributors for this release (only for programs actually in this release):

trepan, tobi, jcnossen, betalord, yeha, colorblind,
belmakor, galileo, ILMTitan,demitar,
Jack, TheBlasphemer, SJ, fnordia, Argh,
declan, peous, AF, mightyzog, Rafal99, alphabeta

Thanks to all the testers!

Also, due to improved checksumming, 7zip or zip archives can only contain a single map. This means certain maps have to be re-released in a seperate archive.

I'll make linux data tarballs, one with XTA, one with NanoBlobs tomorrow - really need some sleep now after having skipped a big chunk of last night.

Also I just uploaded the sourcecode tarball / zip

Is this the semi-mythical new realease that adds ever so much for our mod makers to use? If so...SLICK!

If not...STILL SLICK!

Rats... found a bug :( I take it the new XMLSettings editor wasn't quite ready to be included, because it seems the addition of the "minimap on left" option on the old settings dialog is using the wrong registry key - MinimapOnLeft rather than DualScreenMiniMapOnLeft, and as such, toggling the option in the settings dialog does not work, one has to manually edit the registry to set the right key to 1.

- Fix mouse-drag-move to make units spread across the front if it's big enough, also somewhat take into account unit sizes. Added CTRL-Move, CTRL-Mouse-Drag(front) move to make units move at the speed of slowest unit.

Problem is the updater wants to install to the dev build directory.

That's because the dev installer overwrote some registry entries during installation. Maybe it's a good idea to keep seperate registry info in the future...
