Channels cleanup

Im requesting that we sort out the channels. We currently have more empty and unused channels than we have used channels. Channels which only have chanserv in them.

This is a problem because GUI based channel pickers are overloaded with masses of empty pointless channels that don't even have topics.

I think this is a good idea also. I wonder if there is anyway to see when the last inhabitant of a channel was there, and clear away the oldest ones.

When lurker logs into the lobby on his laptop the number of channels on the server rises by at least a third.

If anyone decides they want their channel back, tell a moderator and keep it active this time ;)

The capitalized ones are different than the lowercase. PRO is inaccessible by standard commands, as is CPI. Your real channel, #pro, is still there and active.

Here you can see the channel icons as well as the lack of more channel icons, and the many utterly pointless unused channels we have.

A lot of these channels have either just lurker and chanserv in them or just chanserv, and this is just 2 pages at 1680x1050 maximized.

sorting into two groups, one group has 2 or less users present, and the other has more than 2.

More than 2 users: 56
2 or less: 210

79.8% of our channels are occupied by 2 or less people, and I assume most of them have chanserv in them.

I'm basing it on channel activity in ChanServ's logs. I will add to my list shortly.

Can't you just filter channels in your list?

At which point users are dumbfounded as to why there new channels are not showing up for anyone.

Either way channels are not just a GUI problem for lobbies, they take up resources at the server end too.

uberserver will only list registered channels with the "list" option turned on

Also, you should probably hide all passworded channels by default in Uberserver and whatever AF's lobby client is currently called. (BattleHub? AFLobby? I can't keep track apologies.)

Noted, locked channels will probably be hidden by default.

Oh, and maybe hide topics for passworded channels?
