Muted in main

Post by CarRepairer »

I said a single line promoting a spring-related project, and was muted and told it was spam:
CarRepairer: --HEY !-- download weblobby https://github.com/springweblobby/swl-w ... -web-lobby
Yet immediately afterwards a message insulting the project is of no concern and the user is not muted:
nluwdc_dust: forget that crap weblobby... use http://springlobby.info/
Is this helpful for spring? Where is the listing for the rules of #main?

both is not ok in #main, but CarRepairer already wrote this a lot of times and nluwdc_dust just "responded". spamming causes drama, so don't do it please.

i saw the "download weblobby" line already A LOT of times -> spam.

edit: in numbers
grep "download weblobby" main.txt |wc -l
13
note: i'm not always online + deleted some time ago my chatlog

there are no written rules for #main, its common rule of conduct.

It was the first time I said it today. I don't say it twice in a row, but generally after a few hours or many incarnations of

--HEY !-- [Ace]bla needs 3 players for something
--HEY !-- [Ace]bla needs 2 players for something
--HEY !-- [Ace]bla needs 1 players for something
--HEY !-- [Ace]bla needs 2 players for something

That's far more noise than what I'm doing. Without an exact rule, I feel then that I don't violate any code of conduct. I'm a human not bot who is trying to get people to try something and I might say it between 0-3 times in a 24 hour period in main which has 95% join battle bot spam and tons of join/leave spam in most people's screens. I'm not spamming at all.

As we speak, I see in my other screen that the user is still going on with rude words like "crap" while I remain muted.

the purpose of the lobby server (imo) is to play games, its not to advertise downloads.

we had this discussion some time ago, i'm not sure if there was some conclusion.

if you think these game adverts are not ok, then our conclusion would be, that bot messages aren't allowed at all, imo we should apply this rule to #newbies.

if you want to advertise you should add springweblobby to http://springrts.com/wiki/GamesDownloads for example. also i wonder why nobody requested to add springweblobby to the official installer.

(imo all lobbies should be removed from the spring installer at it should be sth. like a SDK, but thats a bit of work as download pages have to be adjusted)

sadly thats quiet a complex problem :-|

hm, bluestone and me tried to setup some reasonable rules for #newbies and #main, i hope these are reasonable.

FYI: you're unmuted, sorry for over-moderation.

rule 8 added:

http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=10657

will take a bit until it will be spread arround/enforced, i hope rules are okish ( no. 8, topic of #newbies & #main)
