How to help testing the latest SVN version - TUTORIAL

Post by Satirik »

If you want to help the spring developpers to test the latest version and finaly release the 0.77b1 version, you just have to follow these steps :

1 - Installation

If you don't have a SpringSVN version installed already :
  • Join #buildserv on the lobby : /j #buildserv
  • Read the channel's topic and get the Installer
  • Install spring in a different directory, it won't break your existing spring
If you already have a SpringSVN version installed :
  • Join #buildserv on the lobby : /j #buildserv
  • Read the channel's topic and get the needed files
  • Download the latest spring.exe Executable and replace the old one
  • Download the latest unitsync.dll and replace the old one
  • Download the latest Base files and extract to your spring dir (make sure it replaces the old ones, if it does then you didn't extract to the right place)
2 - Joining the party
  • Launch the lobby
  • If you downloaded the latest SVN installer you should automaticaly join the right server with TASClient
  • Join the test server at : taspringmaster.servegame.com:8300
  • Join the test game hosted
  • Make sure you are not desynced, if you are, restart at step 1 or ask for help

Developpers will ask for your help when it will be needed. But if you really want to help, you can join the test server and test the latest version by yourself, reporting bugs here or on the mantis (help -> report a bug, on TASClient).

it seems to be a lobby problem, i can start a game with spring lobby (still getting some errors though) but with tasclient it doesnt work at all

update:
did the same on another PC, there it works great, this seems to be some specialty of mine...

update2:
after using springlobby now tasclient also works... (i like such errors)
