It hasn't worked for me for a while now, so it's not just a problem with the new release.

it is your GFX, most likely. try disabling shadows:

Did that, still crashes. If it helps, Spring MT works on Linux. However, .7 isn't available for Ubuntu yet, and map textures don't work on Linux, so I would rather play on Windows. Since I have a (not very fast) laptop, large games are not even observable without MT (I can't scroll). Even with MT, my sim can't keep up, but at least I can get over 1 fps.
