Yeah, i spent a few minutes on the test server. Ran around, jumped, dug some blocks, placed some blocks. It was all very successful.

I'd assume the vanilla stuff works fine... but how about all the commands...
/home
/bb
/lwc

and so on... those are the ones I'd suspect gets broken...
Tobi and I tested quite a lot yesterday and fixed many things, but I wouldn't be suprised if we've missed anything...

Also, when I start the server with 1.3, there's no turning back as the world will be converted to the new map format... just as a notice...

I noticed the home command did not work the same way. There was no 5 second "warm up" time, and when I was teleported it took a good number of seconds for the world to render.

don't know what /bb or /lwc do

Well... the server is updated now... not sure if I'll manage to get the maps going again, but I think everything else is working... :-)

The update really messed up everything that uses a teleport action. Whether it's the vanilla /tp command or nether mods or /home, every time you teleport it takes ages to load the world. In fact it's pretty much always faster if you just leave and rejoin.

That's minecraft for you.

There is a "minetest" clone available, which, imo, gets closest to what minecraft is, with an exception of quite a few missing features. It also runs MILES faster : http://celeron.55.lt/~celeron55/minetest/

Definitely worth watching, but it's not really in a playable state right now.

Personally, I doubt I'll try any other MC clone... wouldn't want to start from scratch...

Sure is ugly.

It looks too much like Minecraft to be anything substantial I think.

Only immediate plus I can see is not being written in Java. But all I know about the code-language wars is second hand.

Do not walk into Non-LuaLand. Its dangerous out there. C4++ wired to every stone, Java-lins aimed at every tank, Pearl-mines at every riverbank, the Assembl(y/n)er-lines churning out new enemys by the hours, evisqul lurking under every stone, Schemes trying to lure you into her Fortress, Pythons biting for every SingleHitPoint you got. No son, stay home, stay safe, dont risk the wild.

^ thats why iphones are such a huge success too: make something crappy, ask lots of money from it, once the user notices it sucks, hes too embarrassed to admit it and switch it to something better D:

but minecraft is deep in your heart, just like iphones are... thats what i meant.

being a fanboi isnt that great really, i'd rather like to be able to see whats good and bad, without the love -- i mean fanboiness to disturb my opinions.

now you guys think everything notch makes is great... am i rite? yeah... i already saw another thread, youre already praising his next move, even if it was the death of minecraft, you would agree "yeah, good idea notch, minecraft sucked after all, GIMME MORE THINGS TO BUY!"

and thats exactly what iphone is based upon... trend manipulation
