IIRC recent stats suggest RTS is much bigger than you think, where's smoth......

RTS is still the best genre of game ever, of all time. I'm just waiting for somthing combining springs control systems (custom formations etc) with a polished game, preferably one that allows a huge degree of player faction customisation

Such a thing is completely possible in spring, and already done to an extent with com modules in Zero-K, what is lacking the most as always would be unique art assets.

Oh hell no. We don't need a DOTA/LoL clone. An intentional clone could have serious backlash. Any RTS can have the fun bits of LoL with proper map design and enough players a-la DSD. It's all about flexible cooperative play with manageable micro-ing.
suffers from a lack of knowledge of BA
I've only played a couple matches :P I mostly spectate. I'm sure any mod could suffice.
