Re: Downloads page
I tried, but neither does the link flag for the image tag work, nor does the navimgx template with internal links - giving up.hoijui wrote:i am not a wiki expert.. feel free to fix it.
i mean either
Code: Select all
[[Image:Git.png|64px |link=Build_from_source]]
Code: Select all
{{navimgx|xsize=64|ysize=64|image=Git.jpg|link=Build_from_source}}
Re: Downloads page
Unless I'm mistaken, links as image tags (ie as an attribute of images) just outright doesn't work on our mediawiki installation (would require more recent version, I think).
The SetupGuide I've fixed in the meantime though - as you say, navimgx is for external links, the navimg template is for internal ones (I'd copied those over from wikipedia a while ago - don't ask me how they work [though I think it's hiding text behind the image, and that text is a link], or whether you couldn't make one template that works with both...).
As a side note, the navimg(x) doesn't seem to work for the GamesDownloads page, it's real wonky there... (but I'd see the danger of users clicking the image there as lower anyway)

"x" = externalt0rb3n wrote: i mean eitherorCode: Select all

the navimgx template seems to work only with external links, but that sucks.Code: Select all
{{navimgx|xsize=64|ysize=64|image=Git.jpg|link=Build_from_source}}
try instead of navimgx the navimg template
Code: Select all
{{navimg|xsize=64|ysize=64|image=Git.jpg|link=Build_from_source}}
Re: Downloads page
ahh i see, SeanHeron has changed it. works now. thanks everyone!
Re: Downloads page
I think the downloads page is a bit misleading now still?
Theres the "Downloads" header, which only includes link to the separate games downloads page. On that page is included SL and SD links, and small print that to actually use those you gotta go to that page you just came from.
Then theres "Spring Engine Updates" which actually isn't an update, but the proper full engine download. The thing that most ppl maybe should get even when they just want to get ready to play.
IMO it should be more apparent to encourage getting the basic engine download, with a link to the games dl page, that more clearly tells to use those IF you want to install 1 of those specific games. Or include the game installer links on the same page.
And a clear instruction to launch Springdownloader after install, and get games via that.
Do others agree with this?

Re: Downloads page
Just go ahead and use better lookalike Windows and Apple logos. They really don't care unless you're using icons that indicate your applications is certified or has passed some sort of testing.
A little Javascript that would anchor people on the download page to the right version for their OS might be pretty nice too.
