I use windows vista. not sure if its relevant, but the problem I have with mumble, and it seems like some users experience, is that when i set the app to "push to talk", it never registers the keystrokes when im running spring. Ive tried numerous buttons, though my favorite is scrolllock.

try two things - run mumble as administrator and make sure you don't run spring as administrator; vista seems to check privileges for global hotkeys.

You can easily see who is talking and who is in same room even in spring:

You have to run spring as "mumble-overlay spring" instead of "spring". You can create a script somewhere with the contents ...

Code: Select all

#!/bin/bash
mumble-overlay spring $@
... and then tell springlobby to use that script for the spring binary. An alternative is for SpringLobby to implement a checkbox to use mumble-overlay for running Spring (Maybe this is already done? SL version in Ubuntu is somewhat old).

For some reason, I have no idea why, But i cant get a push to talk button to work with mumble or vent etc, when in fullscreen tasclient. I wrote a small script that detects my keystroke and replaces it with another but it is not a solution for everyone. Does anyone have this issue other than me?

It does work for me with TS though.

does your tasclient run with admin privileges? if it does, push to talk won't work anywhere. (vista/7 issue only afaik, run mumble as admin as a workaround)

Just tried it out, cool stuff :). I have to agree with most of the speakers before me, I can see myself happily sticking with this rather than TS.

Good thing also on the autoregistering! Licho, could you update the first post accordingly? (since the registration via the outlined method doesn't actually work).

The mumble has been down for hours.

A switch to TS would be nice too.

Would be cool if some Lua coder could make an overlay for Spring. TS Supports Lua and all that jazz. Or at least, there's a Lua plugin or something...

Mumble already has overlay! Enable it in settings.
